JVM1730BMC01 General Electric Microwave - Instructions

First remove all screws holding on outer metal casing of microwave. Next remove the back and bottom metal pieces. You will then be able to pull aside the outer casing so you can access the door switches. Check each switch with an ohm meter in both the open position and with the switch closed. If the ohm meter reads the same in both the open and closed position, the switch is bad. Check the top switch first. Replace switch and reassemble. Cheap fix for a costly microwave. Un screwed the cover but when i tried to remove the bulb it was broken at the base. I disconnected the power and used neddle nosed pliers to remove the base

This is the second time I've had this problem-once while it was still under warranty and now this time. Quite annoying noise but super easy to fix (just remember to unplug the appliance first!). I used the flashlight to help find the screws as my microwave is installed over the range.
My vent motor has also gone out...maybe I'll tackle that next!

I examined the grille (at that time I didn't know the name of the part. It appeared to be an easy fix. I wrote down the serial number of the microwave and googled for the part. I ordered the part and replaced it. It was very simple and I'm not a fix-it person. My husband was amazed.

There is a plastic vent cover located above the microwave door on this over the range model. On our unit, it was held on by 2 screws into tabs located on the top of the cover. Those tabs had broken off. The replacement did not have two tabs on the top of the piece. It had 4 small tabs along the bottom of the piece that fits into the edge of the unit directly above the microwave door. The tab holes are already there so it is just a matter of snapping the cover tabs into these holes with a slight tap or push. No tools required unless you need to unscrew the old cover (ours fell off). Total project time was less than ten minutes.

Everything worked on the display light inside worked but when you closed the door and set time it would start counting down but not heating nor would the turntable turn. Started reading troubleshooting chart and first thing I did was removed the cover and checked door switches and found primary door switch wasn't working so I ordered a new one installed it and it worked. Anyone doing this has to be very careful because of the stored energy in the capacitor is strong enough to kill.
My micro is only 2 years old so I was hoping it wasn't anything major.

Removed one screw, slid frame out and removed broken glass. replaced bulb. The hard part was slidding the frame back in place and starting the screw. We were very surprised at the fast delivery of the parts, thank you. The sad part, a few days later the glass broke again. We are trying to get to the people at GE to solve our problem. We feel like that will not happen, we just do not have the time to stay on hold on the phone waiting for someone to solve our problem. Will reorder glass.

Handed the part to my son. He unscrewed 5 screws in the base of the microwave, it dropped down. The light mechanism was clearly in view. With the exception of some corrosion on the old piece, it was simple to remove and replace, put back together, screw back up and all worked fine.

I REMOVED THE TOP PANEL OF THE MICR0WAVE AND THEN REMOVED ONE SCREW TO REMOVE THE CONTROL PANEL. rEMOVED OLD SWITCH. SNAPPED IN NEW SWITCH AND CONNECTED WIRE. REPLACED CONTROL PANEL AND UPPER PANEL.

Unscrewed two screws and pop it in.

Followed instructions on You Tube. I had an over the stove model. First I unplugged the electric cord,removed screws from bottom of microwave, removed the 1screw on motor,disconnected the electric wires which just pop off as a unit and replaced the motor and put bottom back on. Easy instructions on You Tube

Phillips screws on bottom panel allowed me to install new socket and put electric connection back. Secured bottom panel and that was it.

Remove top air grate via 2-screws. Remove metal top panel behind grate that's above bulb via 1-screw. Bulb is exposed and can be un-screwed. DONE

The tray came within 5 days and I simply took it out of its well-packaged box and slipped it into my microwave. It is working just like new. I can't thank you all for being so punctual and reliable. better than having to buy a brand new microwave.
