Microwave Was Popping And Shooting Fire Sparks
I removed the plastic plug that held the wavecover in place and pulled the wavecover off. I replaced with new cover and it worked perfect.

GE Wave Guide Cover was fried, needed replacement
The wave guide cover (wgc) are notoriously bad on this model. As far as I can tell even a little food that gets stuck on it combined with cooking small/insubstantial items will cause the wgc to overheat and catch on fire. Ordered a part from partselect, found it very easily on their site using a nice diagram and ordered it. The item cam e in two days and was a cinch to pop in and replace.

wave guide cover on fire
Remove white plastic button retainer (flipped out of my fingers and lost it. Found it 2 days later. Dog had chewed on it.) tabs on cover fit in nicely. New cover gets hot. Don't know if this is normal.
