JVM1840WDC01 General Electric Microwave - Instructions

Remove the 8 screws in the bottom pan covering the bottom, unpluged the lights and motor plug-ins, slid or pulled the pan forward or to me and removed pan. prized the triange piece which fit into the glass tray to turn it to remove it. removed the two screws which held the motor in place. presto, got the model # off the inside panel and ordered the part on the compiiter, \. arrived in 5 days.
P.S. cleaned everything while I had it apart, toke longer than chancing the part.

I was very surprised to find that the parts for repair were still available after more than 10 years use. I replaced the bulb light sockets because they had become brittle after 10 years of use. I replaced the wiring harness because it had become discolored at the light socket connection end. The harness still worked but I feel safer having a new one. I also found the GE parts site very easy to navigate and order parts from. Replacement parts were installed by using only a philips head screwdriver and removing/reinstalling 14 screws.

Removed screws from bottom of microwave. Had to invite my neighbor over to remove one of the screws... he used his impact drill.

Found out that the motor was working fine. It was the brown piece that the glass cooking tray sits on that was broken.

I had removed the glass tray and tried to pull out the brown piece...but, it wouldn't come out and so I assumed that it was intact and thought that the motor wasn't working.

It's great that it's so easy to return parts to PartSelect.

Removed the screws holding the bottom cover on, removed screws holding motor in place, replaced motor, put everything back in. Simple as changing batteries.

The nice thing is that PartSelect, as always, delivered exactly what I needed and very fast. Ordered on a Wednesday and received it on Thursday (the very next day!)

Repair was simple. Remove screws on bottom panel of microwave, let cover hang on hinges. Remove two screws from drive motor, remove old motor, insert new motor, replace two screws, then reattach bottom panel. Done!

Quiet has returned to my microwave:-)

I also discovered that the (night light) bulbs are much easier to replace when the bottom panel is lowered.

Disconnect the power cord. Removed the screws locate under the spacesaver microwave. The bottom will swing down and hang off the hooks on the back edge. Disconnect the wires plugged into the broken motor. Remove the two screws that hold the broken motor in place. Replace with new motor and re-insert screws and motor wires. Reassemble bottom panel and plug power cord back in.

Took out the screw holding the old motor, unpluged it and reversed the procedure to install new part. My wife is now very happy!

Reviewed the current postings surrounding the problem i was experiencing on your website. Located the 5 phillips head screws on the bottom panel. Removed them letting panel hinge down, removed the motor connector and checked for 21V AC with Volt Meter confirming the motor was not operable. Ordered replacement motor which arrived 3 days later during the holidays. Repeated the panel removal then removed the moter retaining screw and replaced with the received part a perfect matching. All in both panel removals for diagnostics and replacement of the motor took about 20 minutes.

Screwed in new bulb.

Simple. The parts came instantly. The glass was too big so I had it cut to size. I unscrewed the fixture with a screw driver replaced the bulb and slipped the glass cover into the frame and screwed the whole assembly in.

Replaced the sockets, lens and bulbs. The first time the new bulb was touching the lens and the heat broke the lens and burnt out the bulb. The second time I adjusted the socket so that the bulb does not touch the lens.

Impressed by how quickly the parts arrived after the order was submitted. Two days.

7 screws, lowered the bottom and replaced the motor with two more screws. It was fairly easy and I'm pretty proud of myself.

The installers grouted in my above the top microwave so the bottom didn't hinge down as easily as it should have. But it worked.

Tyring to get bulb out i ruined the light socket. Unscrewed the bottom cover of microware. Took out screw holding light socket, removed wires to socket with pliers, intsalled new socket. It was a piece of cake and the part was a perfect match.

Told by appliance repair service that parts were very expensive and service call started at $80 minimum. Finding replacement motor on your site was very easy. Instructions on repair were very complete and included pictures of the motor itself which had same capacity as replacement motor. Before ordering part from PartSelect I followed the online instruction for repair/replacement of the Microwave table motor and it was exactly as described. Removed filters and 10 screws with a single Phillips head screw driver. Motor looked the same as picture and ordered it. Part arrived in 24 hours and it took 4 minutes to replace the motor from start to finish. Total costs including shipping was approx 40 dollars. Great service and great site.
