JVM1660SBC01 General Electric Microwave - Instructions

Most of the effort is simply getting the oven out of the built in enclosure and the sheet metal off. This take about 15 minutes then you have to remove the two screws (not handy location) that hold the door latch/switch assembly so you can remove the switch. I did this BEFORE ordering so I could test the switch (it was charred) and verify the part needed. WATCH OUT - some ovens use a normally open an some a normally closed version of this switch - you have to get the right one. I checked several suppliers that were showing the WRONG switch for my model. PartSelect had it right. Once I received the switch I had it on and the oven installed and running in less than 30 miutes. took a screw driver and pride off plastic on inside of door. be carfule not to break it. only one of two screws that go into handle were visable. had to drill a hole in metal braket to get at second screw. you can just bend the metal braket back inorder to use drill. bend it back when done. took off handle and replaced it. snapped plastic piece I took off back in place and finished.
ge told me i needed to replace whole door. which they nolonger stock and I could not find a whole door for my model on web. found handlw on this website and did it my self

I followed the exact details of one of your customers, removing the inner plate of the door, replacing the screws
that were left inside, into the new handle. I was finished in a few minutes and thank the earlier pioneer for his help.
I am a 75-year old grandmother and the help gave me the courage to try it. Very proud of myself.

Took the front panel off, played with the switch while it was plugged in to verify the switch was bad. I actually was able to tweak the switch just right to keep the microwave working while the part was being delivered. When it came it was just removing two small screws and replacing. Very easy.

Removed one screw, slid frame out and removed broken glass. replaced bulb. The hard part was slidding the frame back in place and starting the screw. We were very surprised at the fast delivery of the parts, thank you. The sad part, a few days later the glass broke again. We are trying to get to the people at GE to solve our problem. We feel like that will not happen, we just do not have the time to stay on hold on the phone waiting for someone to solve our problem. Will reorder glass.

I purchased the fuse and 3 door switches from PartSelect. Replaced the fuse first but that did not solve the problem. Then I replaced the 3 door switches and problem solved!! So fuse only cost $5.00 so glad I have a new fuse in there as well. To see how to replace door switches see videos on utube!!

Remove top air grate via 2-screws. Remove metal top panel behind grate that's above bulb via 1-screw. Bulb is exposed and can be un-screwed. DONE

The tray came within 5 days and I simply took it out of its well-packaged box and slipped it into my microwave. It is working just like new. I can't thank you all for being so punctual and reliable. better than having to buy a brand new microwave.

Unscrewed numerous screws holding the "body/shell" to the microwave. Removed body. I then unplugged top door switch, replaced it with new one, and "tested" the new one. I fixed our $400 convection micro with an $18 switch. NICE!

Removed bottom cover of microwave, involved removing 7 screws, removed turntable motor, involved disconnecting wire harness plug, and 2 screws, connnected wiring to new motor and reinstalled with original hardware

I removed 4 screw from the under carriage of the microwave then, removed the 2 screws from the motor, replaced the motor and replaced the screws. It was so easy it took only 4 minutes to perform, better than replacing the whole unit (microwave) and less expensive too. i only wish it was made in the US, I wouldn't mind to spend a little more.

My microwave was squealing horribly and replacing the turntable motor (SUPER easy btw) didn't fix it. So I figured it was a spun bearing or bushing in the cooling fan (spoiler alert -- it was!). Installation was simple and did NOT require removing the cabinet-mounted microwave from its position above our stove: Unplug microwave, carefully unscrew the 2 screws holding the vent grate above the door, remove the grate, then unscrew the one screw holding the top of the control panel to the case. Carefully pivot top of control panel down and unhook it from the case (at the bottom of the control panel there are two little legs or extensions that insert into slots in the case). Then disconnect the 3 or 4 wires that attach the control panel to the wiring harness (I marked them each with tape so I would remember where they go, but you can just take a picture with your phone). Set the control panel aside. Where the control panel was, you will be looking at the fan, with a bunch of wires between you and it. Take another phone picture for reference, just in case. Disconnect the various wires, starting at the top right and working your way around clockwise. I marked each wire with a piece of tape and a number, starting from 1 and working my way around an imaginary clock face. I think I got to 12 and then the last two (sort of buried in the middle) I labeled as "0" and "-1" but you can use any numbering series you like. Once the wires are all disconnected you can gently push them aside and unscrew the two screws holding the fan assembly in place, and disconnect the fan wire. Then gently maneuver the fan assembly out the front of the case. Installation is simply the reverse of this simple disassembly process. Voila! Back to a nice quiet microwave.

I took the cabinet off and saw where the switch had been burnt. So I remove it and order another one from your company. And I put new clips on it with heat shrinks. We might get another 30 years out it, Although I'm 80 years old.

Removed screws and old parts. Fitted new part to door and put screws back in.

Had to take to a local glass shop for sizing and to remove sharp edges. Will never order again.
