SCA1000HCC02 General Electric Microwave - Instructions

I had left the door to the microwave open and turned around and hit the door latch assembly with my arm, sanpping off the bottom latch hook. In an effort to take apart the latch assembly it was necessary to take off the door choke cover and in doing so I sanpped a few of the plastic tabs that hold it in place. Undismayed, I then went online, found PartSelect, ordered the replacement parts, received them in three days and in fifteen minutes fixed both of them. The diagrams on the site made it easy to find what I needed and ordering the parts was easy. Thanks PartSelect-my wife is happy again!!!

Removed the door, removed the old choke cover (breaking all the stap catches), removed the slide door latch assembly from the spring (the most difficult task) then reassembly of the latch to spring, sliding into the grooves along the inside of the door, the installing the new choke cover (very easy with the new one) taking care not the break any of the staps. Easy enough! Another difficult task was to re-install the door to the frame. It appears that the lower "hinge" is slightly bent down to allow easy install but the door now makes a slight sweeking sound when opening and closing.

bought a fuse but that didn't solve the problem. Guess I need a new microwave

I held the door open while the repair man took the black facing off and replaced the latch and reinstalled the facing I was worn out

Replaced the cord, attached it to the light fixture, and then replaced the cover for the bottom of the appliance

Buying the bulb and doing the replacement my self was the best thing I had done. The same problem happened last year and I had the American Home shield insurance at that time so I called the company and they took three weeks between ordering and replacing the light, they showed me the final bill and it was $240.00....!!! This time I bought the light through partselect, got it within 48 hours and did he replacement myself within 15 min, I followed the instructions on the video and had to do an extra step ( due to the model I have) but I was able to replace the bulb and yooohooo it was working when I reconnect the power... I am a person who never tried to fix any electrical appliance before, but after this experience I will always try to do it myself... Believe me if I can do it and felt it was easy you can do it.... I could not for the life of me figure out how to get into the light housing so I could replace the bulb, nor did I have any idea which bulb to buy. The manual for this model descibes how to replace the underside lighting but they seem to have left out instructions about the interior. I watched the short "how-to" video on this site, bought the bulb that was described and replaced the bulb in five minutes without any issues.

Removal of the bulbs was easy; reinserting was not as easy due to the configuration/placement of the bulbs in the unit. It was interesting that a simple suggestion to keep the bulbs covered with some of the packing material made sense as to not directly handling the bulb itself and causing any contamination of the bulb(s).

Placed the new tray in the microwave.

This is the tray the glass cooking tray rest on and rotates the glass during cooking. The metal tray was installed upside down. The rotating glass tray was not properly installed. The oven was at a very high temp. and the weight of the utensil on the glass was not supported correctly. Result, big " pop " and broken glass tray. Note this is the second glass repaced. The first one dropped while removing it from the oven. It stuck to the bottom of the cooking dish and then fell to the floor. Pop, big breakage. Maybe you can learn from my mistakes.

My daughter hand installed bulbs without a problem, took a minute and used a phillips to reinstall the cover. I shopped on-line because I wasted two hours between Lowe's and Home Depot trying to get the right bulb. I did think your postage was crazy high, otherwise glad to get the right bulbs to solve the problem.

Found a service manual on-line, and read some blogs that indicted the Thermal Cut Out devices that are basically thermal fuses. I removed the device from over the range, which turned out to be not 100% necessary, but made the repair much easier. Found that the Cavity TCO was certainly burnt, and tested bad with an Ohmmeter. The Hood TCO tested open, so I assumed that device was bad, which turned out not to be true. The TCO's are one shot, so I found PartSelect in a search engine, and entered my product model number. The parts were all clearly identified, so ordering was easy. Replaced the parts, bench tested the repair and re-installed the device. Way cheaper than a service call and I also replaced the long burnt out vanity light. This bulb burnt out in less than a year, but a serviceman had told me that the entire device had to be dis-assembled to replace the part, which is not true. This part can be replaced without removing the oven from the over-the-range mount, as can the three TCO's in the oven.

Removed cover, diagnosed problem, ordered part from Parts Select, received part in 2 days, replaced part, tested and replaced oven into built in space.

The instructions for removing and installing the new bulbs appear to be great; however, nothing tells me how to remove the microwave from the mounting so I can then invert it and take care of the bulb issue.
