JVM1490CH01 General Electric Microwave - Instructions

Took item from sealed box and removed protective bubble wrap. Placed tray in microwave, aligning tray with turntable sprockets. Perfect fit, perfect match! And the part arrived in three days and was very competitively priced. What more is there to stay? Will use PartSelect for other replacement parts. No brainer!

Unplug the microwave. Remove front grill and cover by removing 2 screws on top of microwave. You have to look down from the top. I could not locate the screws by feel. Once the two screws are out, remove the grill by sliding slightly to the left to lift out. Open the oven door to facilitate removal. Then remove the steel light cover (1 Phillips screw in the center of the unit) and unclip the bulb holder on the right. Do not touch the halogen bulb when you replace. Reseat the bulb holder and test by plugging in the unit with the door open. Unplug and replace the light cover and grill.

I had left the door to the microwave open and turned around and hit the door latch assembly with my arm, sanpping off the bottom latch hook. In an effort to take apart the latch assembly it was necessary to take off the door choke cover and in doing so I sanpped a few of the plastic tabs that hold it in place. Undismayed, I then went online, found PartSelect, ordered the replacement parts, received them in three days and in fifteen minutes fixed both of them. The diagrams on the site made it easy to find what I needed and ordering the parts was easy. Thanks PartSelect-my wife is happy again!!!

the ones below were easy --underneath take out screws--take out old bulb--put in new one--the one inside a little more difficult--but not bad--take off panel on the front of microwave over door--the light is in a metal housing on the right--take out old bulb --put in new--wore rubber gloves putting in new lights--do not want to touch them with your fingers--i just watched the GE video on the parts website and it told me exactly what to do--if i can do it anybody can do it !

Buying the bulb and doing the replacement my self was the best thing I had done. The same problem happened last year and I had the American Home shield insurance at that time so I called the company and they took three weeks between ordering and replacing the light, they showed me the final bill and it was $240.00....!!! This time I bought the light through partselect, got it within 48 hours and did he replacement myself within 15 min, I followed the instructions on the video and had to do an extra step ( due to the model I have) but I was able to replace the bulb and yooohooo it was working when I reconnect the power... I am a person who never tried to fix any electrical appliance before, but after this experience I will always try to do it myself... Believe me if I can do it and felt it was easy you can do it.... My son said order it. It came a day later. Very cool. He took the door off and up to his room. No idea what tools except most likely a screwdriver. I asked him how did it go. He said it's good. Nice...

Snap the plastic trim piece from the inside of the door off.took broken latch out and put the new one in.PS your part came really fast.Thanks

I was so happy to find this part. I had been using an upside down glass bowl to level the rack! once I found part and it arrived it was in in less than 5 seconds!!

Unpacked glass plate from cardboard box and placed atop rotating spindle inside oven - done.

Removed the door, removed the old choke cover (breaking all the stap catches), removed the slide door latch assembly from the spring (the most difficult task) then reassembly of the latch to spring, sliding into the grooves along the inside of the door, the installing the new choke cover (very easy with the new one) taking care not the break any of the staps. Easy enough! Another difficult task was to re-install the door to the frame. It appears that the lower "hinge" is slightly bent down to allow easy install but the door now makes a slight sweeking sound when opening and closing.

bought a fuse but that didn't solve the problem. Guess I need a new microwave

I held the door open while the repair man took the black facing off and replaced the latch and reinstalled the facing I was worn out

Replaced the cord, attached it to the light fixture, and then replaced the cover for the bottom of the appliance

I could not for the life of me figure out how to get into the light housing so I could replace the bulb, nor did I have any idea which bulb to buy. The manual for this model descibes how to replace the underside lighting but they seem to have left out instructions about the interior. I watched the short "how-to" video on this site, bought the bulb that was described and replaced the bulb in five minutes without any issues.
