SCB1001KS General Electric Microwave - Instructions

After reading reviews that there was no power what so ever and a fuse replacement will solve the problem, I tried it. Replacing the fuse is very easy (and I am not handy at all). All you have to do is remove the microwave cover from the top by removing two screws, slide the cover to the left and pulling the cover off. Then remove the grill in front of you, by removing one or two screws. The fuse is in front of you, use pliers and be firm but gentle. Replacing the fuse is easy but it did not solve my problem.

Removed tiny screw from under the microwave that held the lid shut where the light was located. Took out old bulb and replaced with new one. Very easy!!!!

I went on line, put in microwave repair and watched a video on repair. I then took the oven down from over the range and took it apart. I could see were the magnetron had burned out. There was a hole with obvious burn marks. I went on line looking for the needed part. I clicked on PartSelect and order the magnetron. I received the part within three days, regular shipping. As I had not put the oven back together it took only a few moments to save 150 to 200+ dollars. I put it back together and happy, happy me, it worked.

Buying the bulb and doing the replacement my self was the best thing I had done. The same problem happened last year and I had the American Home shield insurance at that time so I called the company and they took three weeks between ordering and replacing the light, they showed me the final bill and it was $240.00....!!! This time I bought the light through partselect, got it within 48 hours and did he replacement myself within 15 min, I followed the instructions on the video and had to do an extra step ( due to the model I have) but I was able to replace the bulb and yooohooo it was working when I reconnect the power... I am a person who never tried to fix any electrical appliance before, but after this experience I will always try to do it myself... Believe me if I can do it and felt it was easy you can do it.... So simple, unscrew the hatch underneath the microwave oven, pull out old bulbs, and insert new.

Opened the cover. Removed burned out bulbs. Ordered replacements which arrived fairly quickly. Forgot to turn off power to unit (didn't matter in the end!). Using the bubble wrap the new bulbs came in, I inserted the bulbs one by one into their respective sockets. Not really tricky but the surface light is in the back of the microwave so I had to lean over the stove to get all the way back. Once in the bulbs worked fine. Closed the cover. All back to normal.

Used screwdriver, removed cover, took out old bulbs and replaced with new ones. Couldn't get any easier.

took of the cover, replaced bulbs then replaced bulbs. One was more difficult to get in than the other but all is ok now. No more stove stop cooking in the dark:)

the ones below were easy --underneath take out screws--take out old bulb--put in new one--the one inside a little more difficult--but not bad--take off panel on the front of microwave over door--the light is in a metal housing on the right--take out old bulb --put in new--wore rubber gloves putting in new lights--do not want to touch them with your fingers--i just watched the GE video on the parts website and it told me exactly what to do--if i can do it anybody can do it !

Took off cover , unpluged switches , took off switch assy, off/on test hooped and howlered for about 5 mins .Then laughed about other sites said could get those switches. Just wanted to say I LOVE Partselect. Super fast del , great price. JUST AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unplug the microwave. Remove front grill and cover by removing 2 screws on top of microwave. You have to look down from the top. I could not locate the screws by feel. Once the two screws are out, remove the grill by sliding slightly to the left to lift out. Open the oven door to facilitate removal. Then remove the steel light cover (1 Phillips screw in the center of the unit) and unclip the bulb holder on the right. Do not touch the halogen bulb when you replace. Reseat the bulb holder and test by plugging in the unit with the door open. Unplug and replace the light cover and grill.

I used a phillips screwdiver to open the light cover protecting the halogen bulbs (2) both had burned out and needed to be replaced. A bit akward to replace, but within 5 minutes both were removed. I called your part service department to order replacements,(friendly and courteous service I might add!)was told that they would arive in about 3-5 days. 1.5 days later they were on my doorstep...They were promptly plugged into my GE underhood mounted microwave, now I am back in service! You've won me over and I will tell all my friends about you. Thanks again!
