RK955G*01 Hotpoint Microwave Oven Combo - Instructions

If the bottom heating element is not glowing red when you turn the oven on replacing this part may be the answer. Look for a spot on the old element that could indicate it has shorted out and no longer carries a charge.
Very simple to remove the two screws holding the element in place, pull the element out about 3 inches, disconnect the two wires, replace with the new element and reattach the two screws. Simple and effective. The new element is fast and responsive. Do this before any other suggestions to replace more complicated parts in the thermostate etc.

Used a nut driver to remove two hex screws holding element to the back of the oven and then the two hex screws connecting the element to the oven wires. I pulled the element out and reversed the process. I turned the oven on and made sure the element worked.

The replacement was simple. I turned off the power to the oven, took out two nuts holding the element in place, unscrewed the element from the power and finished the job in 10 minutes. The company that we called was going to charge nearly $200 to complete this job. I saved a lot of money by doing it my self.

I remove the back plate, pull out the wires, and unscrew the screws and put the new part. The problem that I had was reaching to the back of the oven to remove the screws. Other than that it was very simple.

I removed the two screws holding it in place,Then pulled it out so
i could remove the two wires , then connected the new unit. Replaced it in the oven wall.
Turned the oven on and it worked like a new one.

First, I turned of breaker for the appliance. Removed two hex head (1/4") screws that hold element in place at back of oven. Gently pulled element exposing wires connected at base of element by hex head screws. Removed the screws and olf elelemt, placed new element in place, tightened screws, inserted into base and tightned screws for plate that holds element. After turning on the breaker, I set the oven to a low temp so I could feel the heat without burning my hand and was satisfied that the element worked.

Removed two screws that held the element flange onto the back of the oven, then two more little screws that held the element tips to the wires in back. Installed in the reverse sequence in about 10 minutes. A whole lot cheaper than calling a repairman! Thanks, the PartSelect customer service lady was a great help in getting me the right part for a 20 year old oven too.

Ordered the part on Fri. AM and it arrived Sat. PM! Could not believe how quickly it arrived. Husband replaced the old element and I am baking again! Thank you.

Toughest chore was to find a tool to remove the two hex screws that held the element to the back of the oven. Once I found the proper tool, the rest was easy. Pulled the circuit breaker, removed the two hex screws, disconnected the two electrical leads and put the new part in and did everything in reverse. Probably saved over $100 doing it myself.

Removed the two screws that held the element in place. Pulled the unit out a few inches to get at the bolted wires. The hard part is reaching in the oven using bifocal lenses and trying to block out the oven light. Getting past that obstacle, the rest went very well.

My Husband did the repair while I wasn't home. He didn't bother to shut off the power even though he should have. He didn't electicute himself or burn down the house and the oven works great so I guess it was a success!

I read your website repair testimonials by previous customers and used that advise to do the job. I liked the suggestion to use something to attach to the unattached wires so they don't slip back into the unit. I used two clothespins. I had one stubborn electrical connection to disconnect so it took a little longer -about 30 minutes. But it was a simple job to do and my oven works fine again. The item was delivered timely from the order date and packaged well. Thank-you!

First I Shut off the breaker from the fuse box
Tried to turn oven on to make sure I tripped the correct breaker
Removed element from back wall of oven by removing 2 screws using a socket set
Gently pull out element a few inches and then unscrew 2 wires from the bake element using a phillips screwdriver
Replace old element with the new one
Screw wires to element
Attach new element to back wall of oven making sure the rectagular hole is totally covered and the element is flush against the back wall
Replace screws attaching baking element to back of oven wall
Turn on breakers and test the oven
