HBL8751UC (01) Bosch Microwave Oven Combo - Instructions

I installed a new right hinge (PartSelect part number PS10060784), since the integrated return spring failed.
To remove the door, I made two of the special tools required in the Bosch repair manual. I fabricated two square pieces of aluminum, about 30mm on a side and ¼” thick. With the door open (it is horizontal) you place one square in each of the cavities that the hinges close into and close the door far enough that the squares take up the force of the springs and allow you to lift the door out. Of course, if one spring is broken, you will not need a square on that side to remove the door but will need it later to install the door with the new hinge. In fact, I installed the square in the replacement hinge before I installed the hinge in the door.
Next remove the ventilation duct (Part number PS8770410). There are three screws. When re-installing the duct later, do not overtighten the screws, because they can pull through the duct. This will require longer screws and small flat washers to repair (‘don’t ask me how I know’).
The next step is to remove the plastic cover (PartSelect part number PS11705124). It will be impossible to save the plastic cover (‘don’t ask me how I know’). Purchase a new one ahead of time. It will be easier to not scratch the door if you recognize that you are going to destroy the cover.
When removing the plastic cover, pieces of some of the tabs that hold the cover in place will break off. The broken-off pieces of the tabs that fit into cavities at the top of the door may remain in the cavities. IF YOU DO NOT PICK OUT THOSE PIECES, THE NEW COVER WILL NOT SNAP HOME DUE TO THE PRESENCE OF THE BROKEN PIECES. You will break the new cover in removing it to figure out why it wouldn’t snap home and will have the pleasure of purchasing a second new cover (‘don’t ask me now I know’).
Also, when removing the cover try not to bend the metal fingers of the frame (part number PS8770415), particularly along the top of the door. It is important that the gap between the metal fingers and the frame holding the glass be correct, since that is where the seal (part number PS10061106) must fit when replacing the cover. On the other hand, if the metal fingers are bent too far away from the frame holding the glass, the cover will not line up with the cavities along the top where the tabs go home. It will be easier to protect the metal fingers if you recognize that you will be destroying the cover when you remove it.
I did pinch and damage the seal when trying to force the first new cover in place (it didn’t go home, as described above), and had the pleasure of purchasing another seal (currently unavailable). You only get one chance per cover.
Once the cover is removed the frame can be removed from the outer door by removing the screws holding the two parts together.

Next, replace the spring.

Next re-attach the frame to the outer door.

Next, be sure the seal is positioned correctly on the cover. The seal has a flap that holds it in place on the cover, such that the seal will be pulled into place when installing the cover. This is essential, since you will not be able to reposition the seal once the cover snaps home (particularly along the top of the door).

Now, carefully position the cover so that it is going to remain parallel with the door when you push it home. You do not want the cover to be cocked, since the seal may not install correctly. Be sure all the tabs are falling into place as you install the cover. Hopefully, the tabs will all snap into place and the seal will stay in place.

Replace the door by feeding the hinges into place with the squares still installed. Open the door fully and remove the squares. The door will close correctly if the hinges are placed correctly. This may take several tries.

Finally, microwave yourself a fresh cup of coffee or other beverage.

This door is not meant to be repaired, in my opinion. I believe Bosch offers only the option of buying a new door. A DIY repair is not risk free.

Replaced the wave cover. Unscrewed existing cover that is at the top inside the microwave. Screwed in the new cover.
Took about 30 seconds to do. Bosch service wanted over $100 for a service call plus parts and labor. Did it myself in seconds for under $10.

Thermal switch on top of Magnetron was defective, spade contacts were burned and loose. New switch $6 +shipping. Removed top cover held on with several Philips head screws. Plugged unit in and gave it 30 seconds to test the fan was working, it was. Put 500ml water in cavity, ran it for 60 seconds, which after fiddling with wires it did, and got over 20C temp rise so magnetron was working (detailed instructions online). Switch is right on top of magnetron. Tried to remove spade lugs but lugs pulled out of switch so I cut the lugs off and removed the broken switch. Screwed down new switch using old hardware. Trimmed wires back and cleaned them. Used crimping tool to put on new spade lugs from car parts store. put heat shrink over lugs and wires to strain relief and buttoned the unit up. Microwave works fine and oven baked a cake so good repair.

First, cut the power and remove the oven from the cabinet.

The bake element is accessible from the back and sits in a drawer.

As someone else said, you have to use pliers to bend the cover of the drawer, you will make some damage to the cover, but there is nothing you can do about it.

Make a note of what wire goes to the right and to the left so you can plug them back like it was before.

When you replace the bake element, make sure you insert it in the straps so it won't wiggle when it heats.

To close the cover that you bent, you will need a helper and push really hard.

Bosch HMC 80251UC microwave oven combo known for its many problems. Dim LED display and others issues. This was a third round of replacing parts. Unit was working for a week. While in use the unit abruptly quit working agai. I am puzzled what else to replace now.
Replaced door switches three times. I suspect another (green Botton) switch again. The whole unit is heavy and need two people to pull out of the cabinet.

Pulled out the old piece after removing turntable and put new piece in. Then put turntable back on top.
It's a $9 part and I probably saved at least $200.

Took the one out of the box and take off the back plate and detach the sensor

I watched a YouTube video that confirmed the diagnosis of failed safety switch. Order the switch and the housing as recommended (because the housing is cheap plastic and as it ages it wiggles too much and no longer holds the switch correctly).
With help of my sons to get the microwave out this was an easy repair. I recommend taking the left side panel off (involves removing the left frame rail as well, but makes access SO much easier).
Bottom line: no need to replace a $1700 microwave. No need to replace several appliances to go with a new brand (that was wife's idea for $4500!).

Turn off power or unplug the range.
Remove 5 gas control knobs.
Remove four T20 screws on Control panel. one on each end, L and R, two underneath, L and R.
Pull off control panel and carefully flip it up onto the range, being careful not to stretch the wiring harness.
Carefully remove two wiring connectors (pinch and pull method)
Remove four T20 screws securing the Control panel mount then turn it over 180 degrees.
Straighten the mounting tabs until the control panel easily slides off of its mount.
Remove and replace the control panel and sheet.
Reverse the procedure to reinstall.
It took me longer to clean the components and the area that to repair the problem.
Tip: Isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle and a cloth cuts the grease and grime, if needed, with very little effort and no scratching.

I figured it was the control module but ordered the display module also in case they were both fried.
Installation is fairly straight forward. Turn off power at breaker. Pull oven out enough to access the top. There are six to eight Torx screws that hold the metal top cover in place. Once the cover was removed the control module is easily accessible. Just remove all the connectors on the board, (Note the Position of the connectors so you can replace on the new board.).
On my control board there were plastic standoffs would not come off without breaking them at the control board level. I used a pair of pliers and carefully broke the plastic ring that held them on the board. Ithen put the screws through the board and screwed into the standoffs until the end of the screw reached the end of the standoff. I did this to all the standoffs. Then I slid the new module in place and aligned the standoffs and tightened board down. After that I reinserted all the connectors, replaced metal cover, turned the breaker on and voila, a working oven again.

After going to a local parts store to get the correct switch, I replaced the right door switch. The correct switch is a normally open switch. The one shipped to me was a normally closed switch. Either Bosch provided the wrong description of the part required or someone at partselect needs to check the part stocked.
