ice wouldn't come out the door
First I removed the ice holder. Then I took the screw out of the side of the encloser, and pulled it out just a little and reached back and unplugged the harness. I had to remove the u-shaped piece off the little motor before it would go onto the new one. It was all very simple.

all 8/32 and holes should have been tapped
had to saw off the shaft to get the yoke off and tap the holes for the 8/32 screws. all holes should have been tapped by the factory. Other than these problems, everything else went pretty good.

Ice Maker couldn't drop ice through the door.
I pulled the drive ring off of the icemaker and replaced it with the new part. Saved a $150 service call plus cost of part. It cost me a little over $11.00 and a repairman probably would have charged $30.

Ice bin drive ring broke
Removed the screws that held the main ice bin and slid back the bin to leave space behind the auger to remove the broken ring. Replaced with new ring and replaced screws to hold ice bin back in place.

The ring was cracked and it would not dispence ice.
I switched the ring and still had the same problem. What caused the Drive ring to crack was the Ice maker drive was cracked also, when it filled with water it would tip. The ice was not freezing completely and would cause the ice to build up and the auger was froze with ice or a big piece of ice would jam it. So I replaced the Ice Tray, it is working like new. I have to buy another ice tray as inventory, although I know inventory is bad but I never agreed with that theory.

Ice Maker would not dispense ice
Had to cut the old part off with dremel then just install new part and put back in refrigerator. It is a good thing to know that the Yoke is a left threaded. Thanks James from Pineville.

Drive ring disintegrated
Removed all screws on back and 4 on front. That part is easy IF you have a Torx of the right size. Slip out the ice bin a bit and replace the drive ring. Reassembly is a bit harder since some internal shift can occur -- rotate or tilt the whole assembly to get two -- I think -- screws started. No need to over tighten screws; snug is good enough.

Ice Maker Repair
Took my husband and son to remove the auger because it seemed to be frozen somewhat. After a little work, the auger broke loose and the repair was a quick process. I thoroughly enjoy the fact that the part was correct and I my ice maker was fixed for very little money and I did not have to buy a new refrigerator! I was not sure that we could get the replacement part because we are not the original owner of the refrigerator. So it has some age, but still works strong!

Broken ice bin drive ring
Removed 6 screws to get at broken part. Had to remember the disassembly sequence to properly reassemble. The whole process was relatively simple. I saved about $125 which would have been the cost of a repairman coming to the house.

My son-in-law is our handyman. He diagnosed the problem, found us the part and then put it in. The part came several days before we expected it and the whole thing went very well and we saved lots of money!

Original drive ring broke
The most time-consuming part was removing the screws. First, remove the 8 screws that attaches the ice bin to the front cover. This will free up the auger enough to pull up the back end where the drive ring is held in place. The ring just pops right out. The only thing I recommend is as long as you have the bin out (and empty), go ahead and give it a good wash. Make sure it is thoroughly dry so that no ice freezes to the moving parts.

Drive ring was cracked (power failure & froze-up when power came on)
I read what other people had done so I tried the easiest solution--Forced, without breaking, the plastic & fit the ring right where it needed to be.
