Switch stops working
Replace with new switch. this is the third switch i have replaced in 10 years. the only part, besides a light bulb, that has gone bad. obviously this is a problem with this model for Kenmore, or just poor switch design.

light didn't come on when the door was opened
I took a very thin bladed screwdriver and took the old part out -carefully.
The new part fit in quite easily.

Spring broke on Mullion
Watched the video. Took the screws out, unplugged the connection and slid mullion off. Then plugged the new one in, slid it on and attached the two screws.

Ice Maker and Water dispenser stopped working
Pulled the fridge out.
Unscrewed the back cover and the one screw holding the value assemble.
undid the 2 hoses and replaced the part.

Broken spring on flapper door
Unplugged the frig and removed two phillip screws on flapper door of left door... Unplugged the electrical connector and removed flapper...
Picked up new flapper and snapped electrical contractor together... Slid new flapper bar into place and inserted two phillip screws... Job complete in 15 minutes...

INTERIOR DOOR ACTIVATED LIGHT SWITCH QUIT WORKING
1. Unplug the refrigerator (to avoid shock) 2. With one screwdriver pry open the switch on the side facing the door to a gap of about 1/8 inch 3. Insert a second screwdriver into the gap to press the plastic tab back slightly and this should release the part. 4. pull the part out and unplug it, you may have to pry back some small tabs on the sides, 5. Plug in the new switch 6. plug in the refrigerator the light should come on, if not tighten the connection 7. Insert new switch back into its slot, it should snap in place. Done!

bad switch
The 2 minute or so video was not exactly matching the model that we had but the instructions were very good and important. The switch was a little difficult to get out from the side of the refrigerator.

Lights didn't come on when door was opened
I have moderate to good mechanical skills, but getting the old switch out was a sizeable challenge. Since this switch suffered some damage during extraction, I was lucky to have ordered a new one to replace it. Reinstall took approximately 90 seconds. PartSelect saved me an expensive service call.

Door gaskets bad and no ice
Replaced both gaskets on French style doors. Note: left and right gaskets are different part numbers. Had to remove flapper door to change the left gasket and all 3 wires on the flapper were broke. Replaced flapper door. Also found cover on top of the door hinge loose. Has a button on it that tells ice maker door is closed. Shuts off the water to the ice maker when door is open. Never knew that! Ice maker is now working again. P.S. gaskets are very easy to change. After removing 2 screws on flapper door, you need to tap it up in order to remove it.

Light quit coming on when door opened.
Unplug from wall receptacle. Pry switch out with screwdriver while pushing on inner tab. Then disconnect electrical plug.

Old part did not seal properly
Read the reviews from other members and just did as they said. Needed a screw driver and the info from past persons review couldn’t have been easier.
