My machine keeps popping my gfi and will shut off when i try to extract the espresso shot. It has also a couple of times not shut itself off when extracting a shot--meaning it just keeps going and water keeps coming out until i turn the machine off. Do you have any suggestions as to what may be going on internally? It doesn't happen every time--but does happen fairly consistently.

I'm having an issue with my breville barista express, Bes870xl. With regards to no pressure at all showing on the gauge or water coming out of the showerhead. There is cold water coming out of the hot water and steam. All the water gets released into the drip tray and is cold. The previous owner used vinegar for many years to descale. After being told not to due to corrosion, and wanting to fix a buzzing/ rattling noise he tried to replace the solenoid valve. While disassembling he broke a piece of the diffuser and give up sold it to me. I have since taken the whole espresso part of the machine apart to get the diffuser screws, replaced the dual solenoid valves, water pump and safety valve.

Hello Tarryn, thank you for your inquiry. Based on the description that you have provided, we would recommend cleaning the machine and remove any blockage in the tubes. If it does not resolve the issue, then you may need to check the thermocoil assembly, part number FIX12008582, to fix the problem. We hope that helps!

Hello Paul, Thank you for contacting us. Researching your model, if you have already checked for any limescale buildup or other clogs, then this can be caused by a faulty thermocoil/heater, solenoid valve, or water pump. We also would recommend checking the seals as well. Good luck with your repair.

Our machine will not produce pressure and it has been cleaned. What are my best diagnostic options?

Hello Gregory, Thank you for the question. The most common causes for an espresso machine not building enough pressure have to do with the coffee. Too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing can all lead to inadequate pressure for a proper brew. We hop this helps!

Breville Barista Express BES870XL
4-5 year old Barista Express started tripping the GFCI outlet during a descale / machine clean operation.

Removed the back of the machine and saw water / moisture around the right solenoid.

Ordered the entire valve solenoid kit, removed the connections, removed the old/original valve kit, then maneuvered the new valv e kit in.
Most difficult part was hooking up the hose to the spout on the far left side and then zip tying it.

If you are experiencing GFCI trips / power issues - order the entire valve kit.
Machine ran great after the replacement.
