start switch replace
i could not perform the repair because despite using the proper id numbers, i received the wrong parts from kenmore three times in a row. now i am trying to return the wrong parts which cost me 120.00 for the start switch, and the knob for the switch, so far. the switch was 40.00 the simple plastic button was (wrong) 40.00, and the wrong unidentifiable part, suposedly correct one, which also was 40.00. this, with the original 40.00 wrong switch amounted to the 120.00 that i am still trying to have returned. otherwise, the fix should be quick and simple, o yeah, its been three months.. you tell me if i am satisfied....

The dryer just stopped working. Couldn’t get it to start.
Watched a you tube video that told me exactly how to do it. Saved us from going out and buying a new one. My husband and I were very proud of ourselves because just to get someone to look at it would have cost us $85. The part was only around $25.

Gasket was falling off, needed replacement
Removed door gasket that was on the door. Replaced with newer gasket (was a tad bit too big, so it slipped off as well.) Added some electrical tape to hold it on. Works like a charm.

Rear drum rollers were shot.
I followed the instructions on the video and it was simple. The hardest part was vacuuming out 32 years of lint from around the motor and igniter. I was lucky there was never a fire in the dryer.

broken air filter
I would not ever consider this a repair. The dryer filter cracked because of my wife put it in loosely. The new one just fit right in.
What was so good about the entire process was how quickly I recieved the part. A matter of two days.

The friggin thing wouldn't shut off when you opened the door. The switch dealie was just hangin there like a loose tooth.
The videos showed the tech taking the front off the unit but my unit didn't play that game. Instead all I had to do was take the top loose, (don't forget to take the dryer vent screws out first, that was the first beer) then access to the switch was easypeezy. That coupling for the switch assembly was 2 beers long. Anyways, got it all back together and it works like it's suppose to.

Dryer wouldn't shut off
The dryer would dry the clothes fine and run through heat cycles and cool down. The timer would also run down, it just would stop even thought the heat stopped. To repair, I took the back off the timer portion of the dryer. At first I panicked. I did not see any part that looked like the new one I just ordered. I searched the internet and found that the original part looked like a black plastic loop with a black and orange wire connected to it. The part I got was the new design. Then I couldn't figure out if it mattered which end I hooked to the black wire. Another internet search showed it doesn't matter which way current flows through a resistor, so it didn't matter. Hooking in the new part was very easy. The time it took to get the information to identify the part, and determine if it matter which end to hook up to which wire took the longest. I would recommend PartSelect put a picture of the old style right beside the picture of the new style. Also would like them to make clear it doesn't matter which direction the Timer Power Resistor went in.

pop off the lid, replace the switch. (in meantime, while waiting for replacement switch to arrive, shorted switch wires together to fool dryer into thinking door was closed)
