11068132413 Kenmore Dryer - Instructions

Dryer was making intermittent squealing noises sometimes it was amazingly loud, sometimes not so bad. Still, I figured this couldn't be good so I wanted to find a fix. Read the stories here and everything pointed to the 'idler pulley', so I figured I'd give it a try. For me, access was the hardest part -- my laundry room is small and I can't easily get the dryer out or move it around. Not a problem with the part, just my own setup. Important to note that this repair is best done through the BACK of the unit, not the front. Once I got access to the back (removing AC and Water used for the 'steam dry feature') I also had to disconnect several of the electrical connectors to get the unit fully apart. Good news -- the actual replacement of the pulley took about 1 minute! It was just all of the moving and disassembly that took so long. The original idler pulley had worked its way off of the shaft and was out of place and causing the squealing. All is well now, and I saved a bunch by doing it myself. No more squealing!

The instructions were easy to follow and the pulley on the replacement part was evenbetter quality than the original. I also followed the recommendation to clean the lint trap. Now the dryer works quieter and better than it ever did. Thanks for your product!

Remove the back cover from the dryer after unplugging unit from electrical outlet. Remove the belt by moving tension arm. Remove the tension spring (by hand). Remove the idler pulley bracket with a nut driver. Remove the Tri-Star retaining clip with a screw driver. Remove the old idler pulley. Remove old washer... replace with new washer and idler pulley... I could have reused the tri star retaining clip but elected to use new one. Put arm back on, re-hook spring, realign belt, put back cover back on... dry clothes.

Simply slid new idler wheel on then popped thr tri ring on. The belt replacment was the hardest thing which was also easy. I think pulling the dryer away from the wall was the most difficult thing.

Opened up the dryer and found that the belt broke. Came to this web-sight and was quickly directed to the correct part once viewing the schematics, and then watched the video. The day the parts arrived in the mail, I went to work and managed to get the drying working that night! Thank you for the parts, the video...made it very easy to complete. Sheral

After running the unit for a minute or so I removed the back of the dryer. Unable to locate the problem from this vantage point, I then removed the bottom kick plate. Using a small flash light, and turning the drum by hand I discovered that one of the support rollers had burned out the bearings. I went to this web site to see if I could still get parts for the unit. I found not only the part, but a full repair kit. Knowing all the parts would need to be replaced at some point, and that Mom could not afford a new unit I replaced everything. The parts did truly arrive in one day when they arrived I went back to your web site. I had seen instructional videos while looking for the repair parts. After watching the video I removed the dryer drum, removed the parts to be replaced (2 drum support rollers the belt tension roller, and belt) I replaced old with new cleaned entire unit reassembled and it is working like a champ thank you very much for all the parts, and info

Followed the directions on the web site. made a hook out of a wire hanger to hold the drum in place (hook from the back frame to the front of the drum) while I set the belt tensioner in place. removed the hook and the rest was easy.Works Great!!! like a new machine.

Ok, there was a couple of other parts not on the video but were not hard to deal with. I would suggest talking a photo of the assembled parts before taking parts of for a reference when reassembling.

I assumed the drum belt has broken so without looking and tearing into the dryer first. I looked at the model number on parts select and the belt was $43.00. However the maintenance kit wihich included the belt, 2 wheel guides and belt tensioner was only $25.00. go figure. Ordered it and within 3 days it was at my front door. After opening the dryer I noticed the belt was intact. After removing the drum I notice heavy resistance on the motor. Thinking motor bearings were out! The internal motor heaters would drop out and than reset. Opened the fan shroud and found that a sock had fallin into the top lint screen opening and locked up the fan wheel with out the persons knowledge when the screen was than pushed back into place. Alot of work to find out something so simple. hilarious actually. What a relief that it was not the motor and since I had it apart I went ahead and put in the entire maintenance kit anyway. The whole ordeal toless than 1 hr.

I followed the instructions from this website. Repair was simple with the video guide. Repair estimates were for $150 -$200, I spent less than $40 for the belt, new tension idler, and new rollers. It runs like new again. Parts arrived in 2 days! GREAT SERVICE! I'll be back and am telling my friends about your site!

Ordered a parts kit with belt, tensioner, rollers, & clips, but did not use. Unfortunately, the kit was not correct for this model, regardless of the sales reps assurances. The kit had two rollers, our unit has four. The belt tensioner was not even close to being the same. However, a thorough cleaning of the interior with vacuum and rag was done. Removed, cleaned, and lubed each of the four rollers and the tensioner wheel as well. Lubed with small amounts of sewing machine oil on the axles and light spray of silicone on plastic to plastic contact points. Voila! It's as quiet as new.

Using some advice here on this website, and a youtube video found by searching for 'idler pulley replacement' I was able to fix my dryer! Taking off the screws was simple, I used a cordless drill. I have some trouble removing the kick panel, and bent the latches, so there is a small gap between the dryer door panel and the kick panel, but it still works fine. Of note, you DO NOT need to remove the back panel, something I did and cost me some time. I am a bigger guy, so maneuvering on the floor to rig the dryer belt around the new idler pulley "in the dark" was cumbersome, but doable. All in all, an easy enough project for under $30 and less than an hour of my time. Kudos to this website, first, for the super fast shipping, and secondly, the reviewers who posted some instruction. Disconnect the dryer from the power source and vent hose. Using the nut driver, remove all hex screws and the electric access panel from back of dryer. Loosen the electrical service cable clamp screws with philips screw driver and disconnect the ground wire. Remove the top panel from the dryer cabinet and the screws that hold the electrical bus in place, then remove the back panel from the dryer. Feed the electrical cable through the cable clamp and rest the back of the dryer against the side. Remove the tri-ring and old idler pulley, then clean and lubricate (WD40) the axel, and install the new pulley and tri-ring. Replace the back panel and all screws.

Broken belt, but went with the mainentance kit since it was going to be all apart anyway. Found the job easy to do and the new belt idler was a big improvement over the old style. /also came with instructions. Good for another 5-10 years.
