1106617801 Kenmore Dryer - Instructions

First I removed the rear panel of the control sectio and the main rear panel. I checked the switches and fuses. The fuse for the dryer vent was giving an intermittent signal, so I replaced it with one I picked up at a local repair shop.
Since I had started working on it, and due to the age, I went ahead and ordered a motor, belt, and drum rollers and replaced these as preventive maintenance.
Once you realize how everything comes apart, it is not a very dificult job to overhaul the complete dryer.

I took the back off of the dryer and then removed the lint chute assembly. Next came the top removal which was a little tricky because the top locks were installed incorrectly from factory. After about 20 minutes for a 2 minute job, the top came off. Now I was able to remove the front and the drum. This left me access to the motor. The hardest part of the whole job was removing the blower wheel. Being made of plastic you must be careful not to brake it while grabbing hold of it and applying torque to the motor side. This process takes two people. My wife helped me and it took about 5 minutes. Leave the motor mounted for this. Once the wheel was off, the motor was then removed, the new one was installed and the process was reversed for assembly. Not very difficult overall and saved me a whole lot of money. Make sure you vacuum out all of the dust since you have the whole dryer apart. It will probably be the last time you see inside it and the dust sure builds up inside after 12 years! I read several customer feedback articles to find one with problem similar to mine. After eliminating the thermal fuse, it was obvious my motor was bad. Watched the video and easily removed motor. Took motor to a repair shop and they confirmed it was bad. Replacement motor arrived in two days (yes...2 days). Unbelievable quick delivery. Easy to reinstall---only took about an hour. Hey, it would have cost $500-$600 to replace this dryer! Now I feel like I have a new dryer for $80!

Googled dryer won't start! From information on the Parts Select website, I determined it was possibly the dryer door switch. Checked the dryer to confirm status of door switch and found it broken! Ordered part and received it within 2 days (actually ordered on a Sunday and it shipped on Monday with receipt on Wednesday. Unpluged the dryer. Used information from Parts select website to remove two screws from vent filter, used screwdriver to pop the top of dryer at each front corner, removed two long screws from the old switch and replaced the broken actuator on the switch with the new actuator received from Parts Select. Note: It was easier to remove old switch with the wires removed from terminals (just pull off), replacing the wires after securing the switch and actuator back in place. Piece of cake, wife happy, received her king of the roost reward :>)) This is also a good time to clean the lint filter area and the hoses to prevent one of those 16,000 annual dryer fires!!!

Reviewed the video showing how to remove the bad-order part and install the new part. No problem. Installing the new part was exactly what was shown in the video on the web page.

When I ordered the part, I viewed the installation video. That was a key step for me. It told me how to identify the correct part (there are multiple latch pieces in the repair kit, and one of them matches the type of door for the dryer), and how to disassemble the door to get the part installed. When the part came and I installed it, it turned out that I could snap the part in by hand, with no tools. It took about 5 seconds to try it, and it worked.

The dryer just stopped after a new load of clothes was put in. It appeared to be a power problem as there were not warnings, it just stopped. After checking the power, I suspected it was an electrical interlock problem. After nosing around, I traced the power to the dryer door interlock. Sure enough the switch was fine, but the mechanical lever was worn away. After Googling around for a replacement I found PartSelect.Com. Found the part, ordered it, and I am back in business. My wife is not happy though, as she wanted a new dryer:)

The latch for my Kenmore dryer was only $10 with shipping and just what I
needed. No instructions included, so I googled installation and it was fixed
in less than 3 minutes... YEAH... I am happy!

First I popped open the top of the dryer so I could see the part. I removed two screws from inside the door that hold the spring lever and switch together. I removed the spring lever which is also like a bracket that holds the switch in place. Put the spring lever back in place over the switch and reinserted the two screws. Done in about 10 minutes.

Loosened two screws in back top of drier and pulled forward and up to hinge top of drier and allow access to door switch.Took out broken actuator spring and replaced with new one,snapped lid back in place and put screws back in hinges and job was done.

Super easy repair. Funny to think I almost called to have it serviced before I found the Door Catch Kit. The original catch had actually fell into the door so when I got the new part it simply snapped in no tools needed!

In a matter of moments the dryer that I had grown to despise was back on my good list! I took a pair of pliers and removed the old parts, then inserted the new catch kit. I only about 5 minutes to do AND I love my dryer again!

i watched the video from Part Select. did exactly as seen and presto it was easily done. never could've done it without Part Select.
