1106507802 Kenmore Dryer - Instructions

Was informed that I had a bad dryer motor and no warranty. Unplugged the unit. Removed to screws in the lint trap slot. Used a small blade screw driver to pop the 2 clips at the front of the dryer top. Lifted the top and rested it up against the wall. Removed 2 screws holding the machine front panel. Removed the front panel and removed the tub. Couldn't get the blower loose from the dryer motor so I cut it off with a hacksaw. Moral if you are going to replace the motor go ahead and by the blower too. It is less than $20.00. Popped 2 clamps loose holding the motor in and removed it. Placed the new motor in the unit. Strapped it down and attached the new blower. Plugged it in, put the dryer back togehter and tried it. It worked.

I removed the plastic latch using a screw driver to pry it out. I had to use pliers to completely remove it. Then I snapped the new piece in. It worked perfectly the first time. Very easy repair.

My husband took the plastic cover off and took out old bulb and screwed in the new one. Then put the cover back on.

1. Unscrewed glass cover on bulb
2. Removed old bulb
3. Screwed in new bulb
4. Replaced glass cover
5. Mixed drink & baked cupcakes

same as I described above. However i was amazed when the part showed up the very next day...I was expecting maybe 3 or so days later. I wiil absolutely use PartSelect in the future.

Repair was straight forward with only two screws to undo. Popped the two sides in and I was done. What was amazing was the lowest cost on parts and the timely delivery.

Super easy repair. Funny to think I almost called to have it serviced before I found the Door Catch Kit. The original catch had actually fell into the door so when I got the new part it simply snapped in no tools needed!

I read several customer feedback articles to find one with problem similar to mine. After eliminating the thermal fuse, it was obvious my motor was bad. Watched the video and easily removed motor. Took motor to a repair shop and they confirmed it was bad. Replacement motor arrived in two days (yes...2 days). Unbelievable quick delivery. Easy to reinstall---only took about an hour. Hey, it would have cost $500-$600 to replace this dryer! Now I feel like I have a new dryer for $80!

I googled the problem, then came across a site where somebody had experienced the same problem, and they changed the door catches to resolve it. I did a search for Whirlpool parts and found "partselect.com". I followed the instructions on the website and located the parts very easily and also discovered that there was a video on how to make this repair. We were tolerating this problem for quite some time and now the problem is resolved, thank you...

Replaced the cap over the door switch so when the door closed the switch was engaged

drilled a 7/16 diameter hole directly in the center of the two mounting holes filed it square big enough so as the spring tip fits thru now the door closes on the spring which actuates the switch looks and works perfect.

I took the back off of the dryer and then removed the lint chute assembly. Next came the top removal which was a little tricky because the top locks were installed incorrectly from factory. After about 20 minutes for a 2 minute job, the top came off. Now I was able to remove the front and the drum. This left me access to the motor. The hardest part of the whole job was removing the blower wheel. Being made of plastic you must be careful not to brake it while grabbing hold of it and applying torque to the motor side. This process takes two people. My wife helped me and it took about 5 minutes. Leave the motor mounted for this. Once the wheel was off, the motor was then removed, the new one was installed and the process was reversed for assembly. Not very difficult overall and saved me a whole lot of money. Make sure you vacuum out all of the dust since you have the whole dryer apart. It will probably be the last time you see inside it and the dust sure builds up inside after 12 years! First I removed the rear panel of the control sectio and the main rear panel. I checked the switches and fuses. The fuse for the dryer vent was giving an intermittent signal, so I replaced it with one I picked up at a local repair shop.
Since I had started working on it, and due to the age, I went ahead and ordered a motor, belt, and drum rollers and replaced these as preventive maintenance.
Once you realize how everything comes apart, it is not a very dificult job to overhaul the complete dryer.

Unpluged power cord.removed top and front pannels(after disconnecting wiring to door switch.) Removed drive belt to drum,and removed drum. Checked and marked motor wiring before disconecting from motor.Removed motor,After unscrewing the blower from shaft.(Had to remove jumper wire from motor)Reinstalled the blower and secured the motor,reconect wires to motor.(rechecked wiring connections)Put back the drum,drive belt,and the front door pannel.(reconect door switch wiring)then the top pannel.Plug in the power cord and checked opertion.....WORK'S JUST FINE! I ordered the replacement motor on a sunday,and the new motor was setting on my kitchen table tueday afternoon when i got home. Great job" PARTSELECT."

Read earlier posts on the change out of motor with times varying from 30min to days. My ordeal was in the days category. Long story short, I could not get the blower off. The back of the blower has flats to use a adjustable wrench and you can use a socket on the back of the motor. I rounded off the flats on the blower and had to cut it off. Since I had only ordered the motor, I had to then order blower. If you can get the blower off the motor is about a 30min to 1 hr job. I would suggest purchasing the blower along with the motor to save some time.
