DPXB515GB0CC General Electric Dryer - Instructions

I took off the dryer top and saw it was the slides went on line found PartsSelect, found my dryer, ordered the parts and had them within two days and it took me about 15 minutes to fix the dryer which will add about 3-4 years more life on it. Thank You PartsSelect My wife is even happier

I followed the directions from the previous post. It was much easier than described. I got the part, removed 4 screws, removed the top, pulled the front and replaced the part. It was all together again in 15 minutes. Dryer sounds great again! I'm so glad I didn't call a repair man!

Unscrewed screws took off new parts and replaced with new parts and put back together. Works great now! No Noise!

We removed the top of the the dryer and then removed the front part. Then put the traps in place, put the other parts of the dryer back on, and turned the dryer back on. Just as simple as that. No extra fees.

I ordered and replaced the front and rear bearings, including the slides that go on the front bearing. Most of this was un-necessary; replacing the slides would have been sufficient, and much easier to do. Two of the old slides were worn completely away.

Took off the top and front of the dryer---really easy, just two screws for each. Put new drum slides (4) on the front/sides of the drum. Then things got a little bit more difficult. Removed the drum entirely, vaccuumed everything out and had to replace the rear bearings. My husband did this part so I can't tell you exactly how he did it. Not too difficult though. The written directions from here were hard to read---need to make a new copy from the original as it's so copied that it's all smudged. Anyway, once we got the new bearings on, we put everything back together. Dryer works like a charm, at a fraction of the cost it would have been to get someone out to do it. I followed the varied instructions out there for getting the dryer open. WATCH the videos on uTube; I took out more screws than needed on first attempt -- which isn't a big deal but took me longer than it should have to pull it apart. It appeared the grinding was coming from the dryer bearings due to some abrasion I could see and worn front slides, so I replaced the front slides (4) and the rear bearing. The kids helped by crawling inside the drum to tighten the new bearing bolts (just for fun). When I put it back together it was making a somewhat different grinding noise. It wouldn't make any noise until I put the belt AND front cover on and then it would make a periodic (about every 10 degrees) grind when I rotated the drum; I took it apart and the grinding would stop even if I rotated the blower by hand. Put it together, the grind would start .... It took me awhile to figure out that the blower retaining bolt had come loose so the plastic blower was grinding on the metal cover. CHECK THE BLOWER RETAINING BOLT visible from the front with the dryer door/cover off -- it's not obvious that it's loose by looking at it since the retaining clip still sits over the blower shaft even when it's loose. You might even see small nicks in the blower fan blade. It's super quiet now.

I removed the top of the dryer and saw that the top two drum slides where gone and the drum bearing itself was damaged I Temporally placed the parts on the drum bearing until I got the new one, that stopped the squeaking noise. All I needed to do was place the part with the hole on the little hook and then sled the other part in its slot.

Replaced bulb.

To get to where the drum slides go you have to first remove the dryer top. Then you have to remove the two screws that hold the dryer front/door. Found inside the dryer about an inch down on both sides. Be careful because it will fall off. Lower carefully as there is an electric hook-up on the bottom of the door. On the door top are the brackets that the slides slip into. My dryer has 4 slides. Sold individually for some reason. You are done except for re-assembly. Slip dryer drum back on door, press the front until you hear it click back together. Put screws back in and top back on. You are done and no more screeching!

Opened the door and removed 2 screws from inside/top of door. Removed top and then removed 2 screws from back of front panel. Lifted drum slightly to remove front panel and attached new slides.

Unplug dryer, unscrew bulb then replace with a new bulb. Plug dryer back in.

Snapped right on! No problem.

The only tool used was a phillips head screwdriver. I removed two screws to lift the lid and two more screws to free the front panel, slid off the front panel, and had direct access to all 4 slides, replaced, reassembled, and good as new.

Followed the video on this site but did not have to remove wires. Just stand in front and let the front panel rest on your leg while you replace the slides. Quick and Easy!!!!
