65298479 General Electric Dryer - Instructions

This one is so easy my grandson could do it. The removal was easy, it broke off. The installation was a "snap in place". Thinking I needed a few days of dryer use without the handle, I made a temporary repair. I fished some heavy packing string thru the slots in the door, made a loop, than a knot. This gave my wife something easy to grab to open. Did not even need to do the temporary repair, the part arrived in one day.

As soon as the new door handle arrived, I just snapped it into place. It took about two seconds>

The repair was simple with my mechanic relative handling the tools. Total time about 25 minutes.

Previous repairs to the venerable machine with parts obtained freom Part Select and shipped to Germany: new drive motor and drum bearings.

Pulled the top of dryer off. Separated the door from the drum seal or gasket, slipped the belt through, put the drive belt on the motor and then put it all back together.

We removed the top of the the dryer and then removed the front part. Then put the traps in place, put the other parts of the dryer back on, and turned the dryer back on. Just as simple as that. No extra fees.

open the front of the dryer, open the back access panel, remove the old belt fragment, pull front cover away from bushing surface at the front of drum, drape new belt around the face of drum, match location visible as the track of old belt, reroute belt at the motor and install tensioner in the proper way, reattach front cover, install back panel, done.

It was so easy, I just depressed a couple of tabs and it popped right in!

Very satisfied. I simply took the plastic door handle out of the package and snapped it into the door. It popped right in and fit perfectly!

Removed door and two screws to replace the door handle. Reassemnled in reverse order. It was a snap.

I ordered the new part as listed and it came in two days, which was amazing to me since it was the week before Christmas. I snapped it in in less than a minute and all is well. Thank you for being so prompt on sending this out. Made the holidays a lot easier.

I followed the directions from the previous post. It was much easier than described. I got the part, removed 4 screws, removed the top, pulled the front and replaced the part. It was all together again in 15 minutes. Dryer sounds great again! I'm so glad I didn't call a repair man!

Unscrewed screws took off new parts and replaced with new parts and put back together. Works great now! No Noise!

Just popped the new door handle on.

Took off the top and front of the dryer---really easy, just two screws for each. Put new drum slides (4) on the front/sides of the drum. Then things got a little bit more difficult. Removed the drum entirely, vaccuumed everything out and had to replace the rear bearings. My husband did this part so I can't tell you exactly how he did it. Not too difficult though. The written directions from here were hard to read---need to make a new copy from the original as it's so copied that it's all smudged. Anyway, once we got the new bearings on, we put everything back together. Dryer works like a charm, at a fraction of the cost it would have been to get someone out to do it.
