PTD90EBPT2RS General Electric Dryer - Instructions

The entire dryer had to be taken apart to get to the door switch. I determined the door switch was faulty by measuring conductivity. I purchased the new switch which cost about $9. The shipping cost was $9. After all that, the dryer still won't start. I gave up and bought a new dryer.

Removed 4 #1 Philips screws from 1side and add to the other side.

When the dryer was installed last year by the dealer, one of the hot leads was not screwed down tightly. Over time the screw loosened and began to arc causing the plastic holding the screw to melt. When I moved the dryer the hot lead fell off and hit the terminal block cover shorting out the dryer. I was able to locate the exact terminal block I needed with their helpful dryer section diagrams. The part came in the time they said. I took off the old terminal block with just 2 attached screws. i kept track of which screws held the hot and neutral conductors and the ground before I removed them. I was then able to slide on the dryer wires and attached the home conductors. I put on the cover plate, turned on the circuit breaker and it worked.

Pry out switch with screwdriver. After removing switch unplug electrical leads from old switch. Plug leads in new switch and reinstall switch in dryer.

Unscrewed the old, screwed in the new making sure wires matched up same as before. Reset my breaker and works like new again.

Wife was out of town, visiting family. I broke the door strike by wedging the dryer door between the laundry room door, closed the laundry room door and it snapped the door strike breaking it. I ordered the part, and it shipped fast using the standard shipping, nothing fancy. Grabbed a pair of pliers and pushed the new door strike into place. It snapped right in, fits and works perfect like nothing ever happened. The wife will never know :)

4 screws, that was it

open the dryer door, locate the 2 screws that hold the top in place, unscrew them

then locate the 2 screws (located near the top of the dryer (facing toward you) and unscrew them

allow the front of the dryer to tilit out towards you, replace the felt, slide the drum back into place into the front of the dryer, resecure the 2 screws (removed last)

lower top of dryer back in place, being careful to make sure the top clips back in correctly.

re-install the 2 screws that secure the dryer top to the front.

boom, you are done....

it was easy, it clip right on.needed to give it a little tap to get it in .

The top and front of the dryer had to come off, and taking off the top (and later putting it back on) was the hardest part. The old seal was stretched approximately two feet longer than the replacement part, and its thinness caused the drum to squeak as it scraped by the door panel. We simply pressed the new seal into place after pulling out the old one. Piece of cake. Putting the front of the dryer back on was simple as well. Fitting the top back into its slots properly was the biggest pain of the whole ordeal. The part came in about 2 days. Thanks!

As I pulled each of the 3 bolts, I put a alignment rod into each of the holes. After I pulled the old deflector off, I had basically 3 pins/rods to slip the new deflector on and keep everything in basic alignment. Pulled one rod, reinstalled the bolt, so on and so on. Ran motor for noises or misalignment and had neither. Pretty simple repair.

Removed the 3 star screws, putting in a piece if wire as I removed them. Wire was not stiff enough and let the drum slip thus binding making it hard to remove. Started over. Finally called a friend for help. I bought 3 tension pins the same size as the screws. When removing the diffuser screws, insert a tension pin in the hole as you remove each of the screws. The tension pins are hard metal and do not have a head. The diffuser will slip over them. After the diffuser was in place, we turned on the dryer to make sure it was running ok. I noticed what looked like lint toward the front. It was part of the felt gasket on the front of the drum and front of the dryer. We removed the screws on the dryer front and pulled it forward. The felt was rethreaded into its slot, put the front back in place,and replaced the screws that hold everything in place. If you turn the part of the dryer that spins by hand, make sure you are turning it in the correct direction. Turning it the wrong way is probably what caused the felt gasket to come loose causing more work.

first ,removed two screws from inner door lining.removed top by lifting front up and off.removed two screws holding front panel onto side panels.lift and pull up front panel away from main body of dryer.turned it around watching not to damage wires. remove old felt and install new felt.put everything back together in reverse.dryer works great.

Followed the directions from the video about that particular part. I am 57 and it was fairly simple to do.

The repair was easy. First I took out 2 screws. Then I lifted off the top. Next I unscrewed 2 to take off front. I leaned off the front and reached in got out old gasket. Replacing new gasket went right around top front panel under the clips. Putting front on and returning 2 screws. Then Same for top. Dryer runs and sounds like new. Unplug the dryer. On the back, I unscrewed the top three screws that hold on the instrument panel and (from the back) slide the panel to my left to disconnect from the top. I opened the dryer door and removed the two screws on the inside top of the doorway to remove the top panel of the dryer. Inside the top of the dryer are two screws to remove so that I could swing the front panel of the dryer out to replace the lower front felt drum seal. I needed to use wd-40 on these screws. When the panel opens, there is no way to disconnect the wires to remove the panel, so I had to prop it up with something so it didn't tip over and damage the wiring; a sturdy chair worked. Then, I heared the drum pop off and drop down a little. I replaced the seal according to the video; by putting it in the groove and pressing it down into the tabs with a flat head screwdriver or something smooth with a little of the seal hanging over the groove at each end. While I was in there, I cleaned out the lint and the wd-40 I used earlier. Then I closed the panel, lifting the drum back into place, ensuring that the dryer drum would turn before and after I replaced the screws. I replaced the top panel and the screws inside the dryer door and slid the instrument panel back into place and replaced those screws. The dryer works great and very quietly now!
