FSEC849GHS1 Frigidaire Dryer - Instructions

I replaced it...just popped it in.

Very simple just put the new ones on to replace the old knobs that broke. Thanks for the quickness of getting our parts to us. So nice to not have to use a tool to turn the dryer on. Very happy with the pricing and quickness it was delivered to us.

Used a flathead screw driver to pry broken handle out and snapped new handle right back in. Took no time at all. It was great and to top it off, I received the ordered item within 2 working days! Thanks so much. (I do not really know the age of the dryer as it belonged to my Mother who has been relocated into Hospice).

Raised the lid, removed 2 little screws,slipped the front panel off, disconnected the safety switch, vacuumed everything, slipped on the drive belt and reversed my way out. It was way more easy than filling a grease gun!

I unplugged the 110 on the dryer, then popped the top on the dryer (with a screw driver), held the switch in place, bent the brass fittings to clamp the switch assembly to the front of the dryer panel and installed the knob.

Installed just like the video described and it went quite well. The part arrived in a short amount of time and the belt was exactly what I needed.Thank you I will visit your web site again. A very satisfied customer. :) Veronica G.

1. Use flat blade to compress clips so top could be raised. Use Philips to remove 2 screws holding front on. Popped front off and then removed old worn and broken glides. Had to lift the drum slightly when placing the front back on. Screwed in the 2 screws to hold the front on. Lowered and locked top. Be careful not to pinch any wires..

I suspected a worn belt and that's what it was. I watched 2 videos on belt replacement and it was not a hard fix. The only "problems" I could foresee would be moving the drum around if you are not that strong. Its not terribly heavy, just a little awkward. I also sliced the top of my hand a little on the underside of the cabinet when moving the drum. Being a little more careful that wouldn't have happened. Part plus shipping was less then $20, and we now have a great working dryer again. I also got a zap when I forgot I had plugged it back in and was putting the inside screws back and the screwdriver crossed some wires. Nothing bad, just a quick jolt. Remember to unplug it until you're all done!

My husband died last year and I have learned to use the internet to fix a lot of things. I was so pleased to find your video instructions which gave me the confidence to repair my dryer, myself, for less than $40. Just like instructed I disconnected and pulled out my dryer from the wall. Pried off the top by using a small pry tool near the clips. As my dryer was close to a shelf that would support the raised lid I did not have to disconnect the ground wire on the back. I then pried off the wire connectors from the switch. Unfortunately one of them broke off the end of the wire so I had to replace with a new connector which I purchased from a local hardware store. (strip about a 1/2 of coating off the wire insert in the new connector and attach by squeezing with a pliers) Once that was done I put the switch in place by lining up the notches and twisting into position. I slid on the connectors. Correctly lined up the knob and pushed it in place. Then I reconnected the dryer to the outlet, gave it a turn and it started. Happy dance time! To be completely honest a helpful tip for retrieving a connector that falls down the side of the drum--chewing gum on the end of a 3 ft wooden dowel. The belt arrived in 2 days. I cleaned the inside and it took no time to replace the belt. All I did is removed the front.The video was very helpful.Your magnet is on my refrigerator for future orders. Thanks.....Andy

Check that power cord is still disconnected from initial inspection. Remove chassis cover plate. Count and set the screws aside. Check type and fit of replacement. Twist-lock new switch into place. Swap wires onto proper terminals of new switch. Replace cover plate. Replace and tighten switch knob. Re-connect power plug. Activate new switch. Three tests successful. Return dryer to ready position. Test again- OK. Repair complete.

Referred to Video and replaced drum support bearing as shown. Did not solve the problem as noise was still present. Called professional repairman, who replaced the belt pulley, along with all the parts I had just installed (came as part of a total kit). I was on the correct path, but just didn't go far enough to check out the belt pulley. If it should happen again, I could complete the whole repair process. Great learning process!!

Slowly my dryer began to stop worftking. I found myself wiggling the starter knob to make it work until it completely gave up. I took the model name and number and found a video describing how to replace the starter device. it took me about 20 minutes to make the change. it only took that long because I decided to clean out the interior thoroughly with a vacuum. All in all it was very easy.
