GER221CAS1 Frigidaire Dryer - Instructions

I opened top section with a screwdriver, pushing in the release.
I opened front panel with door with screwdriver pushing in the release.
I lifted drum out through the front.
I replace the Idler Arm assembly.
I greased the rear drum bearing race.
I vacuumed out and cleaned blower and dryer area.
I put the new belt on the drum, reinstalled the drum.
I put belt around drive motor and Idler arm assembley.
I put front panel with door back on.
I put the top panel back down and snapped into place.
Tested dryer, job done!

You simply pry the old handle off with a flathead screwdriver, and then line up the new handle and snap it into place. It took less than 30 seconds! A breeze.

Once the part arrived, I logged back into my order and watched the part installation video as I did the repair. The video was perfect, it made doing the repair easy and safe. Best part is I didn't end up with any extra screws which was good.

Put a new one on. Just slid it on. However ive had to replace all the knobs now. was cheaper to buy a new dryer with the cost of new parts and shipping. However I was happy with part select. they had the part and i had it in less than 36 hours. Thanks

remove 2 screws rear of drier at top slid the top back and off removed 4 screws on front electronic read out panel and disconnected two wire harness plugs remove the panel removed 2 screws for lower panel at top on either side of rotating drum,tilted machine back removed two screws at very bottom on front of dryer to remove lower panel ,and remove the lower 2 screws to remove front panel.lifted rotating drum up and out of drier ,removed 4 wires on the heating element and four retaining screws from rear of drier to releases the heating element,than reverse the procedure for assembly.

Remove drum, replace belt, return drum

took front panel off, removed access panel in rear to disconnect the belt from motor. removed top panel (this is a stack unit) take plastic rivets loose from lint trap, remove lint trap tube, pull drum out after slightly pulling up to dislodge drum from bearing cradle, Remove bracket and bearing from back of unit, clean parts of old grease (be carefull not to loose small ball bearing on back) Reassemble parts using moderate amount of new grease, put parts back together in reverse order.

I am anything but an experienced handyman. I would always call the local appliance company to repair anything broken. This time money was a bit tight so I went on line to search directions to install a new heating element for our dryer. The PartSelect site was easy to navigate and with only the model number found the part I needed. Best of all the online instructional video so so detailed it made me believe I could do the repair. It took me less than 30 minutes to remove the burned out heating element. The new part arrived the next business day and was installed in another 30 minutes. removed the front then removed the belt that turns the drum pulled the drum strait up from the top then removed the bushing from the back wall put the new one in I also put A little grease in the new bushing to keep it from wearing installed the drum and front. realy easy. I'm A Instructor at A technical collage in Winnfield Louisiana and I used this as A project for my students.

it was so easy using the video that you emailed me. I want to rebuild my whole drier now .

I unplugged the dryer from the power outlet and removed two screws from the back of the top cover and removed the cover. Then I laid the dryer down on its back for easy access to the screws on the bottom of the front side. I then removed two screws from the front bottom cover to clear the way for two more screws for the front main panel and door. Then I removed those two screws that attach the front panel and door to the dryer from the bottom of the dryer front. I then stood the dryer back up on its 4 pegs. I removed the top 4 screws connecting the control panel to the cross bar on top. Then I removed the two screws from inside the dryer accessing them from the top of the dryer, holding the front panel. With little and gentle force I pulled the front panel and door from the dryer housing, making sure not to loose the 4 snaps that come off with it. I removed two screws from the access panel to get access to the pulley in the lower back of the dryer. I loosened the tensioner by pushing it to the side and pulled the belt off the pulley. Next I needed to remove the drum which is connected by three screws in the center of the inside of the drum to a small plate on the outside that is attached to a ball that goes into a grease box. I then wiggled the drum out of the dryer. With some force I pushed the plate upwards to disengage it from the grease box and removed it. I unplugged the electrical wires connected to the thermostat and element. I then removed 4 screws from the back of the dryer that hold the heating element housing and removed the housing. I replaced the heating element and housing and the belt and put the dryer back in reverse order.

The part fit perfect repair was simple thank guys for your help u are the best/removed the top/ front face /belt & drum removed old element installed new one dryer works perfect thanks again
