DE450PDG1 Frigidaire Dryer - Instructions

Exactly how the video showed! It was super easy and I am a girl...although I am a lil more mechanicly inclined than most girls, it was a piece of cake!

removed the front then removed the belt that turns the drum pulled the drum strait up from the top then removed the bushing from the back wall put the new one in I also put A little grease in the new bushing to keep it from wearing installed the drum and front. realy easy. I'm A Instructor at A technical collage in Winnfield Louisiana and I used this as A project for my students.

I set up my laptop with the partselect video going. Laid out my tools and the individual parts that were in the kit. I watched the video a segment at a time, performing the tasks in the same manner that the instructor did. All together, the process took less than two hours, I had no questions or difficulties, and the repair process went flawlessly and successfully. I had never done anything more complicated on a dryer than replacing the hose before this. The sense of pride in doing a repair of this level myself, and avoiding paying someone ridiculous fees to do it, is beyond description.

Basically followed the You tube videos on standard, stand alone dryers as mine is a stack-able unit. Allow a lot of room to work. Unplug electricity and or the gas, vent hose and water hoses. Start removing screws as per the video, remove Belt then lift up then out the dryer drum. (The drum drops in from above on the back of the unit)the rest is remove and replace as you go. *TIP... I use my phone to photograph tricky areas so I can review as needed. It was more scary then difficult. You can do it!

removed top-removed front-removed belt-removed drum (I didn't know how the drum came out WITH the bearing so I unscrewed the 3 middle screws on the back of the drum which released it from the bearing)- removed the bearing-that was when I knew what to order. installed the bearing on the drum before assembling all in reverse order. I wasn't sure how much grease to use so I used about 1/3 of it.

Followed video that was provided!! Now I know how to get the top and front of dryer OPEN. Now I can clean interior of dryer ALSO, lots of lent!!

I followed the directions sent by you step for step and the rpair was done in no time at all. Had a little trouble with the roller ball installation but figured out how to install it after a couple of tries. Repair was done with minimal use of standard houshold tools.

It was easy, I handed the part to my husband and he did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Found instructions on "UTube"some of the screws were in a different position but you can see them. While you have the dryer apart it's a great time to clean it and also as long as you've gone this far replace the belt,it's probably time.

took front panel off, removed access panel in rear to disconnect the belt from motor. removed top panel (this is a stack unit) take plastic rivets loose from lint trap, remove lint trap tube, pull drum out after slightly pulling up to dislodge drum from bearing cradle, Remove bracket and bearing from back of unit, clean parts of old grease (be carefull not to loose small ball bearing on back) Reassemble parts using moderate amount of new grease, put parts back together in reverse order.

Ordered the part from PartSelect.com. It came in a couple of days, which was nice. My wife was all over me to fix the dryer, or buy a new one. Needless to say, I didn't think the old one was done. The bearing assembly had an instructional video. This provided easy to follow instructions, and simple advice even I could follow. Everything went well, and the dryer is now quietly running as good as new. Awesome website, and the customer service is excellant too. WE use PartSelect.com at work all the time. The consensus seemed to be that the loud squealing was most likely the rear drum bearing needing to be replaced. Although the repair went very well (great video!), it did not fix the problem. BEFORE you go the route of replacing the rear bearing, first pop up the top and see if a little piece of plastic that is attached to the top middle of the front panel by a screw is rubbing against the drum (you have to have a load going). I removed this part (I could not find it listed on any parts list) and the squealing stopped. I have no idea what the purpose of this part is, except for maybe keeping the drum from dropping too far down if the load is really unbalanced. This plastic part is on the dryer that has the controls on the front (it has the ability to be stackable) and might not be on the other unit that has the controls on the top back. If anyone has posted this as a possible cause of the squealing, I haven't seen it.

First I like fixing things for myself. So I looked the problem up on the internet. Found the repair tech that I needed. The found your parts site. And BOOM. Looked up mt part on your site. Very easy you had everything I needed. And you got it to me quick. THANKS. When the part hit my mailbox. Everything I needed was there. I pulled the plug. Fliped the lid up. Took off the front. Removed belt off the ideler. Removed drum replaced bearing assy. Put it back together. Closed the lid and pluged the unit in. Worked so well I felt like a pro. My wife was tickled pink. Just like a new one. Thanks guys for making me look good and saving me a lot of money. Will use this site again. I give you 2 thumbs up.

Repair went just according to the video except to pull the drum out there was a plastic lock at the front of the dryer. It was held in by one screw and easy to take off. When I pulled the drum out the armature and spring that hold the belt tight fell off. I panicked a little, but easily put the pieces back in place. When I started the dryer for the first time it sounded odd but realized it was the sound of all the grease spreading itself around the bearing.

After figuring out how to remove the top, front, and control panel from the Gallery series, which is different than the dryer in the video, the repair was easy. Just followed the rest of the proceedure in the video.
