This was real easy just slid the latch in front panel and attached to latch assembly to the door. The repair was about 45 seconds.

noticed that male half was in good working order, so I just snapped in the new female half; without any tools. easy repair!

I pried out the old one slightly and grabbed it with pliers. Quite possibly the metal catch dropped into the door section, but no problem. I pushed the new one into place with the side of the pliers. Probably 3 minutes time.

Sooooooo easy! Ordered the part on-line and it arrived the very next day! Watched the 'how to' video on-line and the fix was a breeze. Bought my Maytag dryer back in 1989 and this is the only problem it's had. For a repair just under $5.00 plus shipping? I'll take it!

Pried out the old female hold and snapped in the new one.

Pushed in the Door Catch, and it was fixed.

Installing the new switch was a snap. With the dryer unplugged, open the top using a putty knife to release the 2 clips - one on each side. Lift the top and support it to stay open. Next, note the wire color and location for each of the 3 wires. Remove each wire from its prong on the bad switch by gripping the connector with pliers and pulling off. Next remove the bad switch by squeezing the tabs on the sides of the switch to release it. The switch removes to the front of the dryer. Install the new switch in the same method and reconnect the wires as before making sure the colors go back on the same prongs. I had to replace one of the connectors with a larger one (that came with the switch) since one of the prongs on the new switch was larger than the orginal (bad) switch. To do this, I cut the old connector off, stripped the end of the wire, and crimpted on the new connector. I had to be careful not to waste too much wire since there was very little slack to work with.

Too simple to describe.

Push new catch in the opening, close the door and VOILA! the door stays closed. Please note that the cost of this part is exorbitant- it's worth about 50 cents but with shipping it cost about $11.00. Check your local hardware store first.

1.Separate the inner and outer door panels. Install the new latch thru the backer plate. 2. Remove the front panel to access the door catch. Remove the existing catch and replace.

After ordering the part, I read the information left by other users. I used a screw driver to pop out the piece, and then put the new latch in the opening. A gentle pop with the side of my hand, and the door latch went right into place. Who knew there was a second door latch on the other side that could've been used?

i took the front off the dryer took belt loose took the tub out the plastic nut on the blower wheel striped out so i took the blower housing apart along with the motor got vise grips on blower wheel replaced motor blower wheel belt and belt tenchinor and spring cleaned all the lint put it back together works fine

Used nut driver to remove front cover/door assembly. Used screwdriver to pry broken latch receiver out of front cover. Snapped new latch receiver in cover. Old striker/latch nub retained. Reattached cover/door assembly.

I would like to say first of all that I was amaized and pleased at how simple the ordering of this part was and while looking at the parts diagram on you website I noticed the door swing was optional and could be easily changed and the dryer came from the factory with a latch installed on both sides of the door. In our laundry room the dryer sits to the left of the washer and the door to the dryer opened to the right which has always been a slight inconvenience. . . So instead of changing out the broken part, I took the door and hinge off with my cordless screwdriver (6-8 screws) and turned it around and remounted it on the opposite side. . . Simple! I never took the new part out of the ups envelope. Now I have a spare so I taped the new part in the envelope to the back of the dryer in case I ever need it and now we have more convenience with the door swinging the correct way. Sweet deal! Once I realized the drum was to be removed, the actual repair was not difficult. Because of the location of the pulley, it's best to tilt the dryer. Snap ring pliers are required to remove the retaining ring on pulley. I pulled the damaged pulley from the bearing. A small gear puller was needed to removed the frozen bearing. Lightly oil the new bearing. Installing the drum is a challenge because of the loose belt. I used paint tape to hold the belt on the drum. Download the service manual for good exploded parts views.
