58714000102 Kenmore Dishwasher - Instructions

I watched several videos of people replacing this gasket easily, but we had trouble. The old one came out easily. The new one just slipped into the crack, but it kept going and ended up on the inside of the door. We ended up taking the outside panel off to get the gasket out. We tried to fit the thing into the slot, but it kept coming out the other side. I finally came across someone who had had the same trouble. By feel only, you can feel a slight ridge on the top side of the lower door and I had to press the gasket against that ridge. It was not a very noticeable ridge, but it holds the back (slot edge) against the door so that the gasket stays put. When we figured that out, the repair went smoothly. I am running the dishwasher now and so far, so good.

1 Removed 2 screws to remove door panel so as to access back of dispenser.
2 Unplugged 2 color-coded wires attached to dispenser
3 Removed 6 screws attaching the dispenser.

Reversed these 3 steps to install new unit.

Easy. Don't even think of calling the repairman.

Replaced upper wash blade and used screwdriver to pop off rail stops to slide rack all the way out to exchange

I removed the kick panel at the bottom front of the dishwasher. Then using a flashlight and a cross point screwdriver, I removed the thermostat from about the middle left. It requires a short screwdriver, but not quite as short as a stubby. I unplugged the wires, noting that one of them was a little burnt looking. The burnt looking connector was still okay. I then installed the new one, with the green dot on the thermostat having the slightly burnt looking connector. Then I ran a load of dishes and the dishwasher worked as it was supposed to. It has worked okay twice since then.

if the wire they snap on was bent it needs to be straightend.......they just snap on. easy to install but wish they had better wheels so this problem would be solved. My 2 sons have same brand dishwashers and have same problem.

I removed the door panel and ran the dishwasher to determine where it was leaking. Ordered the parts. When parts arrived I removed door in order to get at the bottom door gasket, replace it, and removed the tube gasket and replaced it with new parts. The whole job was very easy for a person that's never repaired a dishwasher before. I also found that the return tube gasket at the top of the dishwasher was leaking and repaired that by making a new gasket out of a flat piece of rubber and an o-ring. All leaks have been repaired. With regards to the return tube issue, it may have only been loose and if so, I could have just tightened the return tube outlet and gotten the same results. The people at this site were excellent. Removed old hose and went to install new hose from Part Select. Part received was not the same as advertised. It was 6-8 inches shorter than the original hose. Would not make the necessary turns because of shorter length. I even went to Video instruction on installation even though I have been in Machine repair for 30 years , this video showed using the shorter hose and when installed in the video hose also had a kink because of hose length. Had to stop repair and go to hardware store and purchase a longer hose. This purchased hose from the hardware was 50% cheaper and actually worked. I also paid for 2-3 day shipping and received part 7 days later. I am very disappointed with Parts Select and am an owner of an Equipment Rental Facility and will never utilize Parts Select again.

This was a dishwasher that my employer threw out due to the excessive time it was going to take getting the broken part - all of the appliance stores I contacted had them backordered. Since I'm a DIY and Internet savvy person, I decided to go to the Internet page and use the IPB to determine the correct part, and ordered it. I installed the dishwasher, and waited...
10 days after ordering the part, it came right to my door. Installation was very simple; remove 7 Phillips screws from the front panel to access the latch mechanism, remove the two Torx screws holding the latch assembly, disconnect the wires from the latch assembly, and do the reverse procedure to re-install. No latch alignment was necessary, just screw the assembly right back in place. (Yes, I made sure the power had been disconnected!) The door gasket did not need to be replaced at this time.
A very quick and simple procedure for the DIY-type person that can handle simple tools.

Turn off power. Took out screws holding control cover on, (left loose and hanging in the front of the door by the connector wires).Disconnected the two wires at the bottom of the switch. Removed two torx screws, pulled switch out. Reversed procedure to install new switch (which isan exact replacement). turned power back on, tested door latch, washer works perfectly again.

First of all, I got the part 24 hours after I ordered it. That in it self was a feat. Second, I followed everyone elses instructions, pulled the old gasket out with a pair of needle nose pliers, cleaned the area as good as I could, found the notch for the slot on the gasket to slide into and viola...it slid in and stayed in. No more leakage whatsoever! Thanks for all of the tips!

Pulled off the old gasket and replaced it the same way with the new one.

The old part easily snapped off and the new part was snapped into place. No tools were needed. Very easy. Saved quite a bit by doing it myself instead of calling a repairman.

I removed the two screws and then moved the dishwasher out a little bit (about 6 inches). I pushed the dishwasher toward one side to make room for me to change the spring with my hand and repeated the same procedure for the other side. After the spring change, I turned an old dishwasher to a new one.

I used both epoxy on the male threads and then pulled out the case and twisted the flat car body flat kind of a nut. Let it sit for 36 hours and now like new.

Removed 6 phillips head screws that hold the front panel in place...let the panel hang in place...then remove 2 torex screws that hold the handle to the dishwasher ( # 25 torex screw driver needed ).......then pry the wire connections off the old handle..remembering where they go on the new latch.....and reverse the process for the new handle install..and for the gasket just follow the inst's on the sheet that comes with the kit..very easy...but when you close the dishwasher with the new gasket..it's going to be very hard to close..( well for me it was )for the 1st few times...
