58714131100 Kenmore Dishwasher - Instructions

I used both epoxy on the male threads and then pulled out the case and twisted the flat car body flat kind of a nut. Let it sit for 36 hours and now like new.

This was a dishwasher that my employer threw out due to the excessive time it was going to take getting the broken part - all of the appliance stores I contacted had them backordered. Since I'm a DIY and Internet savvy person, I decided to go to the Internet page and use the IPB to determine the correct part, and ordered it. I installed the dishwasher, and waited...
10 days after ordering the part, it came right to my door. Installation was very simple; remove 7 Phillips screws from the front panel to access the latch mechanism, remove the two Torx screws holding the latch assembly, disconnect the wires from the latch assembly, and do the reverse procedure to re-install. No latch alignment was necessary, just screw the assembly right back in place. (Yes, I made sure the power had been disconnected!) The door gasket did not need to be replaced at this time.
A very quick and simple procedure for the DIY-type person that can handle simple tools.

All parts were expensive for the items.
found cheaper wheels w/clips for much less on another site.

Took the old out and placed the new in its place. That simple!

if the wire they snap on was bent it needs to be straightend.......they just snap on. easy to install but wish they had better wheels so this problem would be solved. My 2 sons have same brand dishwashers and have same problem.

This repair project was easy enough that my 15 yr old son had it almost all done without me. The hardest part was getting the wires unplugged from the old latch. Once we got the pliers out to help us get a grip, everything went smoothly!
This was a quick and easy fix for an older dishwasher that still works!

Removed old hose and went to install new hose from Part Select. Part received was not the same as advertised. It was 6-8 inches shorter than the original hose. Would not make the necessary turns because of shorter length. I even went to Video instruction on installation even though I have been in Machine repair for 30 years , this video showed using the shorter hose and when installed in the video hose also had a kink because of hose length. Had to stop repair and go to hardware store and purchase a longer hose. This purchased hose from the hardware was 50% cheaper and actually worked. I also paid for 2-3 day shipping and received part 7 days later. I am very disappointed with Parts Select and am an owner of an Equipment Rental Facility and will never utilize Parts Select again.

I removed the door panel and ran the dishwasher to determine where it was leaking. Ordered the parts. When parts arrived I removed door in order to get at the bottom door gasket, replace it, and removed the tube gasket and replaced it with new parts. The whole job was very easy for a person that's never repaired a dishwasher before. I also found that the return tube gasket at the top of the dishwasher was leaking and repaired that by making a new gasket out of a flat piece of rubber and an o-ring. All leaks have been repaired. With regards to the return tube issue, it may have only been loose and if so, I could have just tightened the return tube outlet and gotten the same results. The people at this site were excellent. Viewing the instruction video provided online made my repair process extremely easy. Only thing that held me up was finding a tool to help me remove the torque screws from the latch. Thank goodness for inheriting my grandfather's tools and eventually finding the right bit. The latch came with a new gasket but I recommend not replacing it if it's not necessary. I did replace ours at first but it was too thick and caused our dishwasher to leak. So I placed our original gasket back after cleaning it up and it works just fine. This wife was able to complete this project with two kids under the age of 4 and a hyper border collie running around while the husband was at work.

I received the parts 3 working days from order. They were in perfect condition and exactly like the originals.
Pulled dishwasher out from under counter. Removed door. Replaced drain hose. Replaced gasket. Replaced springs. Put door back on. Tried rinse cycle. Placed dishwasher back under counter. Works like new.

Removed 6 phillips head screws that hold the front panel in place...let the panel hang in place...then remove 2 torex screws that hold the handle to the dishwasher ( # 25 torex screw driver needed ).......then pry the wire connections off the old handle..remembering where they go on the new latch.....and reverse the process for the new handle install..and for the gasket just follow the inst's on the sheet that comes with the kit..very easy...but when you close the dishwasher with the new gasket..it's going to be very hard to close..( well for me it was )for the 1st few times...

First of all, I got the part 24 hours after I ordered it. That in it self was a feat. Second, I followed everyone elses instructions, pulled the old gasket out with a pair of needle nose pliers, cleaned the area as good as I could, found the notch for the slot on the gasket to slide into and viola...it slid in and stayed in. No more leakage whatsoever! Thanks for all of the tips!

Removed the two screws that mount to count top pulled the dishwasher out to see how the spring was attached , installed the new spring and the job was done the job it took about 15 mins. to complete.

Slid the old rack out, removed the silverware basket and put in new rack, and slid the new rack in. Had to use the pliers to attach a wheel that came off during shipping.

Turn off power. Took out screws holding control cover on, (left loose and hanging in the front of the door by the connector wires).Disconnected the two wires at the bottom of the switch. Removed two torx screws, pulled switch out. Reversed procedure to install new switch (which isan exact replacement). turned power back on, tested door latch, washer works perfectly again.
