Cap would not close
At first I wasn't sure; I thought I had to buy the inner panel of the door. Considering that I have to minimize expenses I made it a point to tackle the problem myself. I unscrewed the outter panel off the dishwasher door and located the dispenser from inside of the inner door panel.
I unplugged the old dispenser, which was damaged, unscrewed it from the panel and removed it. I cleaned any and all debris, dirt and soap scum it had accumilated over the short years we've owned it.
Finally; after I prepared the new dispenser for installation, I placed it in position screwed it in and plugged it in, which was slightly tricky because it is pretty snug against the inside door panel. Once installed, I got my older son, 15, to help me screw in the outside panel of the door, and as he held it I screwed it on the the inside panel.
I tested it with no dishes inside by pouring just a little detergent in the new dispenser, starting the dishwasher and I stuck around in case there were any leaks or any other possible disaster that could occur.
This was exactly one week ago and all is still well. By the way, the person who took my order, I believe her name was Joann, was great. She talked to me making certain I had the right part, which I was unsure of since the diagram on your site was not quite clear. On top of that; I didn't pay for overnight service, yet my part was at my door the next day. I was amazed at the quick service and delivery. Thanks Joann!!!

Broken Spring, left side of dishwasher door.
The first sensible thing to do is to find the circuit breaker for your dishwasher and switch it off so as not to short anything (or yourself) out. Next, remove the lower piece of metal bracket from beneath the door by unfastening the two sheet metal screws (a nut driver or a screwdriver will do the job), taking note as to how it comes off so as to facilitate replacement. Some will recommend loosening the screws at the top from beneath the counter and pulling the machine forward a bit to gain access to the sides but, if you have a small enough hand (as I do), you can just reach in there and and hook the spring into place. I didn't want to risk loosening any plumbing! You'll need a flashlight to see where the ends connect. And, if one spring is still intact, you can reference that to reassure yourself you've got it right. I was able to stretch the spring out by hand and hook the thing to that little plastic gadget that pivots when you open the door. That's it! Button her up! You're done!

Dishwasher was making screeching sound.
Disconnected the water line. Pulled the dishwasher out from underneath the counter. Turned the dishwasher on its side. Removed the two screws that were holding the motor in place with a special screwdriver set I had to buy. Removed the motor. Found that the front O-ring on the motor was mangled. Replaced the O-ring. No more screeching. The dishwasher now cleans the dishes better than the day I first bought it. I have to wonder if that O-ring was ever installed properly from the factory.

a part of the latch broke off causing the latch to not secure the door
on a U-TUBE repair sequence it showed removing the entire front panel of the door. With this Kenmore model the front panel is in two parts. The upper part where the controls and latch are is independent of the front panel so all I needed was to unscrew the upper panel, unscrew the latch, pull off the wires and reinstall by plugging in the wires, screwing the new latch to the door, reinstalling the panel to the door. It took about 15-20 minutes for the entire operation.

Dishwasher hose had hole in it. It was 23 years old.
After getting a totally incorrect length of hose from partselect.com . Went to local hardware store and bought hose for $3.00 vs $20.99 + $10 shipping!
Partselect sent replacement hose of 24 1/4” vs the original hose of 27”. Good luck getting any response from them once they have your money!

dishwasher was leaking onto the floor
We received the part in just a day or two so thank you for quick delivery. The base of the dishwasher door was leaking...not the actual gasket but a long strip at the base of the door had separated. With the help of a talented neighbor, my husband and our good neighbor pulled the dishwasher out from its installed place, took off the door and found a screw which needed a star-shaped screwdriver. Fortinately another neighbor had just the right tool....so screw was removed, old strip pulled out, new strip slid into place, door re-attached, dishwasher shoved back into place and anchored as though everyone knew what they wre doing! It works fine now....a small leak continued the first few washings but all is perfect now. We hope it lasts....and lasts.....and lasts! Thanks. Happy Wife
