GSC3430F00WW General Electric Dishwasher - Instructions

Looked up possible causes on your website. Website stated that more than 50% of time the cause was the piston and nut assembly. Removed the piston and nut assembly in bottom of unit behind screen on rear wall and saw that the gasket seal was completely gone . Ordered the part. took less than 10 minutes to install. Tested the unit and it drained completely. Thank you as i was looking at a more difficult repair if the pump had to be replaced.Repair cost less than $20.00.Before changing piston and nut assembly I cleaned the strainer and sump. disconnected drain hose and checked for blockage . i than checked your website that listed the piston assembly as the culprit more than 50% of the time. I first made a bad assumption that the leaking dishwasher was from the gasket. I replaced the gasket and it still leaked. To find the leak, I took the body off of the dishwasher and ran it to find the leak. It was from the solonoid connection. I took photos of the leaking motor unit and very easily replaced the new motor unit by matching the placement from the photos. The hardest part is tipping the dishwasher on its side and mopping up the water.
It was very easy. All you need is a nut driver and a Phillips screwdriver. Even an over-domesticated, non- tool user can do it.

We ordered the pump kit by model number and it was a perfect match.(It was on our door step in 2 days with normal shipping!) Three bolts and a couple of electrical connections later and the pump was off The install was just as easy. The instructions were very easy to follow.It's great to find a company these days that knows what it is doing and does exactly what it says it will do.

As suggested. Pull washer, remove screws from top and replace with new part. Very simple and easy if you follow steps furnished by this site.

We ordered our motor and pump assembly. When it arrived we followed the instructions that came with it. We had no problem with the instructions. We found it to be really easy. I was very happy since this happened 4 days before Thanksgiving. Thanks for the easy instructions, my husband got my dishwasher repaired in plenty of time for our Thanksgiving family get together.

Removed screws on the drain pump filter screens at the back of the dishwasher, unscrewed the check valve, screwed in the replacement unit, and re-affixed the filter screens.

I lived with the drain problem for 6 months and reviewed on line trouble shooting which all pointed me to a pump or solenoid valve problem. I pulled the unit and disassembled everything before noticing that the rubber washer/stopper at the top of the check valve had erroded away and was not preventing water from pumping back into the cabinet when the drain pump kicked on. Always check the condition of this check valve first if you dishwasher is not draining properly. It was so easy once I found the bad part.

I used the pump/motor replacement kit. It was a very easy repair and the parts were a direct replacement with no modification necessary. I saved over $300.

DISCONNECT POWER TO THE DW FIRST! First of all, I need to let you know that my DIY skills usually involve calling someone else to do the job! But I found a couple of good videos online that provided some basic information about the remove/replace steps for the timer. What they DIDN'T warn me about was that there is a spring-loaded lever located directly between the timer and the dw door. When I took the timer off, the lever and spring went flying! The lever that fell off is actually a part of the soap dispenser mechanism. It took me a while (45 minutes) to figure out how all of the pieces went back together. There is a small post on the door that one end of the spring attaches to. The other end of the spring attaches to the open end of the white lever - this lever goes between the timer and the door- kind of an important step to make sure you have these pieces when putting the unit back together! As you put the cover back on the dw door, make sure that the white lever and the black soap dispenser lever are connected (you will have to spin the black lever so that it will connect with the white lever). Just make sure to take your time and breathe! This was a little frustrating at first, but if you relax and try to visualize how the pieces fit together, you'll be running dishes again in no time! See GE web site for repair instructions. Take out screws at top of door. Slide unit out there is a spring on each side of the door just look at the good one for details. Easy fix. About 30 minutes.

Without any specific directions with the part (which would had been nice. If it wasn't for my husband I wouldn't have known where to start.) I had to carfully pull the dishwasher out of the cabinet (it wasn't heavy) to unplug the power supply. Then we unscrewed 2 screws on the top and the upper arm connection came off. We replaced it with the new one, screwed it back on, reconnected the power supply and pushed the dishwasher back where it belonged. It worked out very well.
Also I want to say I am very happy with the length of time it took to get my part to me. (1 day) I was washing dishes it no time.

The check valve in the piston and nut assembly was worn away not stopping the water from reentering the basin area. Replaced it and all was good there. Replaced the door gasket and all was good there now too.

Squeeze the new link to the cable hook with pliers while locking the vise grip to the cable for easier handling. Then, using the vise grip on the cable, hook the other end of the link to the dishwasher door hook

I removed the two screw at the top holding the dishwasher to the counter top; pulled on the unit - but found it stuck on something.
Of course the hot water feed and the drain hose were still connected and would not let the unit move out any further as there was no slack.
If I had thought about it - I would have disconnected these from under the adjacent sink. But I ended up lying on the floor trying to disconnect them from underneath the unit. It was a bit difficult as there was very little room to move the wrench and the screwdriver.
Once done, the unit came out very easily.
When tipped over I disconnected the old motor and replaced with the new. It was a very different design but fitted in very easily. The hanger took a bit of working out as the diagrams are not very clear.
The wires and clips went together easily. Once I had cleaned everything around the motor and the gunge that cames from years or washing dishes, it went back the way it came out. Albeit with the same difficulty with feed and drain hose.
We ran the unit with no dishes for a couple of times to clear our the muck left in the pipes when the system was down.
Now we have a fully functioning dishwasher again. Cost $250 for the pump and motor as opposed to the $800+ unit my wife was looking at!

Simply opened the dishwasher door, removed the gasket insert located in the middle inside of the door and replaced with new. Also went ahead and replaced the seal on the inner edge of the inside dishwasher door. Found very simple instructions on Google on how to do make this repair. Very easy!
