Door on soap dispenser would not lock in place.
I removed 12 screws to get the front door panel off. The screws are star head screws requiring a special screw driver bit to remove. Fortunately, I had one as part of a power drill I had purchased. Once the door panel was removed, I removed the six hex head screws that held the soap dispenser unit in place. The unit is also held by two metal clips that I pried up with a knife (a screw driver blade would not fit) and released the old unit. The new unit snapped into place and I put the six screws back in place. Putting the door panel back was very difficult and I had to get help to hold it in position while I put the screws back. The repair worked. It appears that the plastic arm on the old soap dispenser that releases the soap door had weakened, so it didn't snap the latch back into place after the solenoid opened the door. This is a design defect that Kitchaid should correct.

With qrantz counter top needed to secure dishwasher to side not top of cabinet opening.
Solution was very simple with the side mounting bracket kit, the only problem was somehow one of the brackets was damaged out of the box . There's a slight off-set on the bracket to allow it to fit properly next to the dishwasher but this one had been flatten out. Had to have happened before going into the shipping box because they were very well protected with bubblewrap. Also, brackets are fairly heavy gage metal so it would have taken some amount of force to do this. Fortunately I was was able to bend it back into a useable shape. It wasn't perfect to look at but because it's mounted behind the side of the dishwasher it didn't matter as long as it worked.

would not dry dishes
I had to pull the appliance out from under the cupboard, remove the bottom dish rack, go to the back of the dishwasher and remove the two plastic nuts and the two wires from the heater, then remove the heating element from the inside of the appliance and reverse the order. The dishwasher works fine now.

I had not needed to install the mounting brackets that came with the dishwasher because the old counter top was 1 inch lower than standard and I was able to just wedge the dishwasher into the space and it would not tip.
I simply disconnected the power line to the dishwasher and pulled it out enough to install the mounting brackets. The installation manual that came with the dishwasher described how to install the brackets and I simply followed directions.

Machine would shut down during the wash cycle.
I read information on this website about the function of the high limit thermostat. I found that it was the problem by disconnecting the two wires on the thermostat and straight wiring to bypass it. This allowed the machine to work properly so I ordered the high limit thermostat. To replace the part I used a screwdriver to remove the instrument panel and replaced the high limit thermostat by disconnecting the two wires from the old thermostat and connecting the wires to the new thermostat. I then replaced the instrument panel. My machine is working properly again..

Clean light was flashing and that was only light that worked.
We had to pull the dishwasher out the get the heating element brackets loose underneath. We had to put the new heating element in and then we had to figure out which code to program in to make it reset. the last one listed on the installation instructions was the one that worked. I think it was heated dry, normal, heated dry. It would be very helpful if the reset instructions were put in the manual by whirlpool. I am very pleased with my part that I ordered from PartSelect. It came within 2 days of placing the order.

Heating element broke causing blinking lights on the control panel and poorly washed dishes.
Googled the problem. Found a really good video about how to fix it. Ordered the part from PartSelect and it came in a couple of days. Son and I fixed it and had it up and going in a little more than an hour. The biggest problem was getting it disconnected from the water, drain and power and then hooking it back up. Old fat guys don't do well lying on the floor with their head under the sink - was why I needed son. Works now just like brand new. I highly recommend PartSelect! Don't know what it would have costs to get a repairman to do it but figured our labor saved us a couple hundred $. Yea!

Soap dispenser door failed to open
We removed the screws holding the door panel, then unscrewed and removed the dispenser unit. Installed the new unit and replaced the door panel. It leaked on the first run, so we had to remove the panel and tighten the screws on the dispenser unit. It worked like a champ after that.

The lid to the detergent dispenser wouldnt open fully
I replaced the old one with a new 75.00 part with no problem. However, when I looked at the old part I saw that the problem was simply the spring that opens the door was sprung. It just needed to be adjusted. That took a little more time to fix than the replacement job but had I known this before, I could have saved myself some cash. BTW that spring is attached to the hinge on the door. IMHO it needs to be a little beefier so as not to fail.

Heater Element burned out
Disconnected the power. Removed the dishwasher mount screws from under the counter. Slid the Dishwasher out. Removed the two wires. Loosened and removed the two heater support nuts. Removed the heater element from inside the dishwasher. Placed the new heater element inside. Tightened the nuts. Attached the wires. Pushed the dishwasher back in place. Replaced the under-counter support screws. Reset the diagnostics message on the dishwasher front panel (This may not be necessary for some) - (Press HI TEMP > AIR DRY > HI TEMP > AIR DRY). All works great. Thank you PartSelect.com for fast shipping and great pricing.
