I pulled out the heating coil and pushed in the new coil. I turned the stove top on and heard a sound like "dzzzt". I immediately turned off the burner and waited for it to cool, then pulled it out. The part had a burn melt on one side of the end prong. It turns out that the part that the burner plugs into needs to be replaced. Actually, the stove top is over 20 years old and my landlord will have to replace the whole unit. So it turns out that I didn't need to order a surface element after all, but it was very easy to install!

Just put it right into the receptacle. I want to add...we had gone to our local appliance store and brought home a wrong-size unit. Got online and your website came up. After checking at local appliance stores and unable to find the bunner I went online looking. I found this site and there it was. I ordered it, received it within two days, took the old one out and the new one in. As my granddaughter says, "easy peasy lemon squeeze". It took all of five seconds and I'm cooking again.

Removed old burner, plugged in new burner. Turned on electric and everything worked fine. I was concerned that I would not be able to get the correct burner since my stove is approximately 30 years old and General Electric no longer stocks replacement parts. The new surface element was manufactured by General Electric and had the correct replacement number on the package. Thanks Part Select.

The repair is simple, pull out the old, plug in the new. The most difficult aspect of the repair is to make sure that you have the right part. As this is an old stove, and it was a builder model, the model number did not match exactly, and I got the wrong part which I had to return. Look at the pictures carefully as many of the parts look similar.

It wasn't so much the repair that was needed as how impressed I was with the fast delivery. Without a fourth burner & a holiday weekend coming up I was in desperate need of my element. I ordered it around 1:00 pm on a friday & it was delivered the next day before noon! Very impressed with the ease of ordering & receiving. Thanks again.

I simply pulled the old surface burner out, and plugged the new one in. It took less than one minute! The amazing part of this repair, is actually that PartSelect sent the replacement surface element burner OVERNIGHT! I could not believe it, and was VERY impressed with their commitment to help their customers in time of crisis. It arrived just on time for my Thanksgiving not to become a nightmare. I removes the old element and drip bowl, then replaced the drip bowl, then replaced with the new element. Approximatly 3 minutes. . .

I did as the video suggested.....I cut the old wires and spliced new ones already attached to the new terminal block. It would have been nice to have some instructions with the parts as I expected one piece but had to connect the wires to the new block and the new metal cover. I was guessing a bit. Also, I needed to use the holder strip off my old part so that it displaced the new part back far enough to insert the burner connections. That meant finding a screw and nut small enough to allow the metal cover to fit on the block. But the burner works great. I've learned that any repair requires some ingenuity.

This is an easy repair and for anyone thinking that they might have trouble effecting it, you all have my assurance that all the heat related elements are easily replaced. These elements are basically plug in and there is a shielded area (usually placed in the northeast quadrant of the burner unit. With everything turned off, pull the burnt out surface element up and toward the southwest. It should unplug from the female receptacle. Installing a new element involves performing this in reverse by coming into the surface with the prongs facing downward towards the receptacle and then pushing towards the northeast and downward at the same time The element should click into place. The entire time necessary to effect this repair should be less than ten minutes.

My GE range is 20 years old, and still going strong. All I needed was to replace the 6" surface unit. After making slight adjustments, it was just a matter of placing the new unit. After finding this Co. on the internet, and checking others, I will certainly order from Part Select again!Dorothy Trakshel
