I broke the original knob when I dropped a picture on it.
I carefully removed the knob from the paper package and gently placed it between my left hand thumb and index finger all the while watching for falling objects that might cause harm to the new knob.
After determining there were no threatening objects anxiously awaiting any misplacement of the knob that I desired to place on the stem ... Read more from the control area of the stove I quickly placed the knob over the stem and pushed with very little pressure unless it was safely installed.
After the installation I quickly went to the sofa and rested from the extreme labor that I performed from the difficult procedure.
