Part description

This is an approved OEM replacement part for 150 models of Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Estate, Inglis, Maytag, Crosley, Amana, Admiral, and Magic Chef Washers and Washer-Dryer Combos. For complete compatibility, please see "Model Cross Reference List" below. This is the newer version of this part, made with new metal sleeves for added strength. The Motor Coupling is located between the motor and the transmission on direct drive washers with no belt. If the drive system seizes, the coupling is designed to break to prevent the drive motor from damage. Consequently, this part may need to be replaced as your appliance ages. Symptoms of a faulty Motor Coupling include a washer pumping but not spinning, slow spinning, the washer will not agitate, and unusual noises. This coupling kit contains all the parts necessary to replace your existing Direct Drive Motor Coupling. Please note, that after replacing the motor coupling your washer may smell like burning rubber for the first few uses, this is entirely normal as the part becomes acclimated to the machine. Each is sold individually.

Agitator would not move & during spin cycle tub would not spin sounded like shaking a can with marbles in it
I looked at the pictures on the order form and thought I could guess what was damaged then I saw the trouble shooting section and it said that it could be two parts, I saw the price and ordered both. I watched the video on how to replace the parts I purchased, it only took me 30 minutes to replace both. My wife was so impressed she cleaned up after me and after I did a trial run and gave the OK she started washing my clothes. Thanks for making the video. Jay

Washer won't agitate or spin dry.
After disconnecting hoses, drain pipe and plug and bungee cording them to top panel, I used 2 wheeler to pull it out into work space. This model did not have the bolt you see in the videos under the cap. It had a plastic retainer with a spring. It took the 1/2" drive adapter to remove the retainer. The cog assembly pulled right out. It had a plastic ring that was easy to pull up to release the cogs. That took only 15 minutes to fix. The DIRECT DRIVE coupling took longer because I don't do this for a living. The end trim on the panel comes off by prying the bottom by pulling it straight out toward you with your fingers or a small screwdriver then pull them out and up to take them off. Remove two screws at the bottom ends of the panel and pull it out and rotate it up. The rest is like in the U tube videos..

Washer would not spin on spin cycle
I followed the videos and it went amazingly smooth. Watch the videos! I could have stopped at the Direct Drive Motor Coupling as this was the evident problem. The rubber coupling itself had developed oversized holes where the drive pins of the motor assembly connect to the drive pins of the transmission. However, having the clutch and directional cog assembly, I decided to install everything. Everything was easy to access, and although I had knee surgery the day before I was able to complete the repair with no damage to the machine or myself.

Just like the video except did not remove the cover panel. Just layed machine down on its back. The only thing about this method is the rear spring clip for the motor had to be done by feel. hard to see it.

Washing machine wouldn't engage into spin cycle; made a loud clicking noise and no movement.
Turns out the plastic clutch rocker had broken. (the small cog was broken off on the floor under the machine) I followed the repair video attached to the direct drive motor coupling only to find out I had not dug deep enough, so I followed the repair video for the clutch assembly and found the problem area; replaced the clutch parts and even though the direct drive motor coupling was only showing wear and tear, I replaced it also. Everything went back together without any parts left over. Washer runs like new again. The repair videos were what saved the day.

No agitate, no spin, motor turning.....
This is a bit of a complaint. Problem #1: I followed your video but when it came to installing the cabinet, I was unable to do so with the machine in the upright position. That is not a one man job what with the pins in the base having to mate with the slots in the bottom of the floppy cabinet. I had to tip it back down to complete the job. Problem # 2: After installing the machine it did not spin properly..... going out of balance even with no clothes loaded. I uninstalled and disassembled the washer again and discovered that the skate plate had moved out of place. Getting it back took some time and effort. I would suggest that your video indicate how to check the skate plate for proper position before installing the cabinet. Problem #3: The new coupling had metal inserts containing small internal ribs. I had to file the ribs to get them to fit the gear case and motor shafts. If someone hammers them on they likely would never be able to remove them for replacement.

Agitator top section would not release from the bottom; cover would not re-install
I followed the video and encountered two issues. Problem 1.) There were mineral deposits where the two sections joined. The combined strength of two large people could not get the two parts separated. I sprayed a little WD-40 from both directions (the bottom and the top) and let set for an hour. The two pieces then came apart. Problem 2.)The cover required watching another online video detailing what the fastening points looked like in closeups. When putting the cover back on it is important to exert extra strength to hold the front firmly once in place below the front bracket with your foot all while trying to tip the sides up and over the edges which connect with the cabinet resting on the bottom edges of the two sides. I determined the reason for this was because the front feet were screwed out all the way requiring the bottom to propped up from underneath. If the legs had been at the opposite end of their travel, the bottom would have held in place on it's own. All the other instructions were followed exactly as shown on the video. I now have an almost new machine.
