Timer wouldn't advance automatically, but could be manually advanced through all the cycles
Leaving timer knob in place, remove two screws from back left and right sides of control panel hood. Slightly lift control panel front, to unlock sides. On back of timer, pull black pin out 1/2 inch. ( this unlocks timer knob ). gently pop off the timer knob. From back, remove 1/4 inch hex screw from timer (keep screw). Slide timer to the side, to unlock from control panel. Unplug wire harness, from timer.( lift lock prong on plug with small screwdriver if needed ). Plug new timer in, and reverse instructions for install. ( be sure black pin is pulled out 1/2 inch, Install timer knob, then push black pin back in all the way, BEFORE INSTALLING control panel back in washer.
