The washer began smoking during a spin cycle, it still spun and it did drain the washer. What's going on there. Belt?

Hello Virgil, Thank you for the question. We suggest checking the Belt and Pulley for wear or damage. If you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!
Take the front panels off, there's 2 screws at the bottom of each panel. Unplug the wire harness from the back of the motor and remove the belt from the pulleys. Pay close attention to the way that the belt runs. It's a little difficult to put back on so you only want to do it once. Disconnect the water hoses from to pump. Put a towel under it a little water will come out. Unbolt the motor and remove it. I replaced the idle pulley and the belt. The pump must be removed from the motor there are 3 torx screws. The idle pulley has to be removed with snap ring pliers. Replace the belt and reassemble. Again pay close attention how the belt goes on in relation to the pump screws. Put the motor back in the washer. Another set of hands would be helpful when bolting it back in, it's awkward and there's very little room. Put the belt back on the pulleys. It's tricky be patient. Hook the hoses back up and plug in the wire harness. I ran a load just to make sure nothing leaked before I put the front panels back on. Having done it once if I had to do it again it would go much easier.
1) Remove two bolts holding on lower front cover and remove cover. 2) Remove four bolts holding on upper front cover and remove cover. 3) Remove four bolts holding in motor assembly and bring to work bench. 4) Remove three torq bolts holding on water pump and detach from motor assembly. 5) Install belt on pulley. 6) Reverse disassembly instructions to put back together.
