This is a pulsator assembly, also known as an agitator, for your washing machine. This pulsator sits at the bottom of your washer and is what is used as the main driving force to wash your clothes. This pulsator comes with a nut and plastic cap attached in its middle, to secure within your washing machine. If the pulsator in your washer is broken, it will need replacing immediately to continue to wash and clean your clothes evenly. The cap that sits in the center of this part is sold separately.

Does anything go in before the actual wash plate goes into place? The big round silver part goes the bottom of the basket.

Hello Sandy, thank you for your question. With the lid opened, take a flat head screw driver and insert one of the three ends on the triangle shape on the cap. Pry up and then do the same thing for the other two. Thank you and have a great day.
