The gearbox attaches to the bottom of the lower shaft. This item is used to link the drive shaft and the cutting head assembly. The gearbox is sold as an individual replacement part.

Is this gear drive head serviceable? Mine isn't broken, but it doesn't sound happy. Being retired and trying to save money, I'd like to service before replacing.

Is this gear drive head serviceable as in, able to add gear lube.

Thank you for your question. Yes, you can use silicone grease. When you remove the bolt from side of the trimmer, fill the hole only until a slight amount of grease comes out. Do not overfill it.
