A faulty brush connection can cause a cutter or saw to start poorly, stop without warning, or produce weak motor power. The brush terminal assembly forms part of the electrical path leading to the motors carbon brush. Check for heat damage, loose connections, broken wires, or worn insulation before replacement. Also inspect both carbon brushes and the armature for cracks, pitting, burning, or uneven wear. Order by the exact tool model because similar machines may use different electrical components. Disconnect the power cord and water line before service, allow the tool to dry, and note the original wire routing. Keep wires away from moving pieces when reassembling the housing.
