Motor was inoperative. I removed and tested the switch, which switched BOTH the neutral and the hot side. The neutral side of the switch was OK, but the hot side was dead.
It took about 15 minutes to remove and test the switch (Phillips screwdriver). I used needle-nosed pliers to help remove the connecting lugs to the terminals on the switch. It took slightly less time to install the new switch. I thought I was ordering only the switch segment, but the replacement came with the attaching bezel attached.

Do not stand the saw up in operating position for replacing the switch. It's much more convenient to leave it in its vertical orientation (as when moving it). That way it's easier to reach around and hold the loose electronics box (inside the shell of the saw) in place while you align the first screw. After that, the other 3 are easily aligned.
