Product Description

This Switch is an OEM approved replacement part for various tools and models manufactured by Delta, Black and Decker, and Porter Cable. For full compatibility, please see the "Model Cross Reference List" below. This Switch has four terminals, a removable safety key, and a compact design for easy installation. The purpose of the switch is to turn the device on/off, as well as playing a role in electric breaking by momentarily reversing electrical polarity. Due to the mechanical internals of switches, they tend to degrade and wear out over time, making them a commonly replaced part in power tools. Common symptoms of a broken switch include: the device has completely stopped functioning, it will not turn on, and turning off intermittently during use. Each Switch is sold individually, and may also be referred to as a Rocker Switch.

Switch wiring pattern. Black leads. White leads. Green (ground) Plug pattern for four wires? Connect pattern? How do they plug in?

For model number Delta 36-979 Table Saw 10"

Hello Frank, thank you for contacting us. According to our research, the plug connections for the switch are connected as: the two black wires will be connected on the right side terminals at top and bottom and white will be connected on the left terminals at top and bottom. We hope that helps!

Wouldn't start.

Remove. 2 screws, pull out wires. Switch unclips from plate.
Install new switch.

Power switch would not turn saw off

unplugged power cord.
removed the nut holding the power switch assembly on the saw.
removed 3 screws from the back cover.
removed the 2 white wires and 2 black wires from the switch terminal post. pay attention to wire color on each post.

On / Off Switch was broken

Very easy repair! Remove old switch which is held in by locking tabs. Squeeze tabs, switch pulls right out. Install new one, reconnect wires. Secured ground wire better, checked all connections.....done.

Not like the picture

The switch shown in the picture has a toggle like the original. The shape of the toggle is important because it will turn off when the shut-off paddle in front of it is pushed. Unfortunately, the switch they sent me is electrically the same, but the shape of the toggle makes the paddle useless. I thought about returning the switch but decided it wasn't worth the hassle. I removed the shut-off paddle and use the new switch. It's just a little less safe that way. My main gripe is that they failed to update their photo.
