A snow blower that will not change speed or shift between forward and reverse may have a stretched, frozen, or broken control cable. This replacement cable links the operators speed lever to the ground-drive mechanism. Inspect the lever, cable mounts, linkage, belt, and friction drive before deciding the cable has failed. Verify the equipment model because cable length and end fittings must match exactly. Before service, shut off the engine, remove the key, and disconnect the spark plug wire.
