This is a genuine OEM replacement part that has been sourced directly from Skil. Carbon brushes transfer electrical current from outside the motor to inside. They are one of the most common parts of the miter saw that will need replacement. The heat and fiction they experience from the contact with the spinning armature is what wears them down over time. This set comes with two carbon brushes, they come with the lead wires and springs attached. We recommend you replace both brushes at the same time. When replacing carbon brushes you should always inspect the armature, if you find any burns, cracks, or other signs of damage this may indicate there are bigger issues with motor. To successfully replace the carbon brushes in you miter saw you will need a screw driver. Be sure you have unplugged your saw before you begin this repair.
