I have the Stainless Steel Model. Do I have to remove the Stainless Door Panel Panel prior to removing the Ice Door Kit? My Ice Dispenser Paddle does not actuate the Ice Auger??

Hi Mike, Thank you for your question. Here is a link to one of our YouTube videos that you may reference on how to install the ice door kit, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCgedHt8mpM&t=5s. The refrigerator in the video may appear different from yours, but it will give you a general idea on how to install the part. We hope this helps! Good luck with the repair!

Does not dispense ice.
Fix.com logo
Hi Brenda, Thank you for your question. If your ice maker is not dispensing ice, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the dispenser control board, the micro switch, the ice dispenser actuator and the auger motor. Once you have determined the part you need, please feel free to call customer service. We are open 7 days a week and anyone will be happy to assist you. We look forward to hearing from you!

Bracket built into panel assembly that ice door hinge attaches to was broken.
The broken part, # PS3514121 is no longer available. The ice door kit I ordered was not needed but I used it anyway. I was able to melt a small hole in the right side of the broken bracket and fabricate a longer pin than the one supplied with door kit and got the ice door reattached. It took a while but it works great and is probably str onger than the original design. Hope someone can use this information.

The in the door icemaker was no longer making ice. All of the ice that was in the ice bin had frozen up. The ice tray had no water added to it due to the filler tube having filled wth frozen water.
First, I disconnected the power cord for the refrigerator from the receptacle. Then I removed all of the ice that I could from the in-door ice bin. Then I used a hair drier on the high setting to melt the rest of the ice from the in-door ice bin. Be sure and put a towel on the floor to catch the water that comes out of the ice dispenser. While the hair drier was melting the rest of the ice from the ice bin, I removed the front control panel by removing the catch tray and then the two 1/4" hex head screws at the bottom of the panel. Then, I carefully lifted the control panel up (in order to free the three tabs at the top that hold it securely to the freezer door). Next, I disconnected the electrical connector that was located on the back of the front panel control circuit board. The circuit board for the lights that come on when you dispense the water was the next thing to disconnect. After that, I removed the two 1/4" hex nuts that held the water and ice dispenser actuator micro switches in place and removed them. Then I removed the one 1/4" hex nut that anchored the water and ice dispenser actuator levers. To remove the door, I disconnected the door return damper piston and slid it off of its bracket. I used the needle nose pliers to lift up on the right side of the long pin that holds the return spring to the door. Once the right side is free, you slide the pin out to the right. Then you can remove the door and the spring. I then installed the new door, door hinge and damper that came with the parts select repair kit. Everything fit exactly as it should. I then re-assembled the actuators, micro switches, door light circuit board and front control panel. After everything was back in place, I use a pair of pliers to gently squeeze the ice maker filler tube (it was made of soft rubber) in order to clear the frozen water from it. After that, i noticed that there was frozen water in the part of the ice tray that funnels the water into the ice maker. I had to remove one 1/4" hex nut from the under side of the ice maker to remove this part. I took it over to the sink and ran water over it to remove the ice from it and then re-installed it. When I plugged the refrigerator back in (unplugging the refrigerator is not only for safety reasons, that also resets the ice maker), I had new ice within about fifteen or twenty minutes.

ice will not dispense
The ice bucket would fill with ice, but not dispense. Replaced the ice door, which was fairly easy after looking at a you.tube video. Unfortunately, this did not solve my problem. It appears that the auger turns fine when the ice bucket is empty, but slips when it is trying to dispense. So, I am looking to replace the auger assembly, also.

Defrost not working on ice maker door
Door flapper was deteriorated and was letting room air in flapper needed to be replaces and with the kit was able to do it just wish there was another defroster already placed in the new flapper for the ice dispenser so we wouldn't have to go through the step of replacing the defroster cable into the door assembly. Installation works fine saved money for sure. Thank you.

Ice chute door broken, letting in air and causing frost inside freezer
I followed the associated repair video, which was relatively accurate. The face of the ice and water units was not as easy to get off as the repair person made it seem, but it eventually came free and was really easy to put back on. My fridge had a couple of minor differences but not enough to cause any major confusion.

Ice dispenser problems
When ordering parts, be sure you know what color they will be. The website does not say and sometimes there is no photo available. Email them and ask for the right part number. The website will tell you a black part is correct for a white appliance. It happened to me. I sent it back but had to pay shipping. When replacing the ice dis penser parts, you can install the hinge part first, then install the dispenser arm with the ice guide attached. THEN attach the door to the dispenser arm. This is much easier than attaching the door to the arm first, and then trying to assemble it. With the new parts (especially the dashpot) it works perfectly.

Would not dispense ice
Video instructions were extremely helpful and installation went pretty well but it turns out it was not my problem. A plastic clip that holds the micro switch in place had broken off and I found out after I installed the kit. I ordered the proper part and will be able to finish the repair.
