Light switch no longer worked
Turn off and unplug your refrigerator. I used the screwdriver on the left side of the part (where the plug is) and used the putty knife at the same time on the right side to push the spring lock portion of the part in. The part snapped out. I unplugged the left contact from the plug and put it on the new part, then I unplugged the right contact and put it on the new part. I did this so the wires would not go up into the refrigerator and be hard to find. I put the left side of the new part where the plug and contacts are in first then I snapped the right side in place. I plugged the refrigerator back in and it worked perfectly. Just take your time and gently remove and reconnect the new part. The store where I bought my refrigerator wanted $69.95 for a service call plus an hourly charge and part charge. Count on this site for your parts and do it yourself. I ordered the part on Monday, it was delivered on Tuesday around noon and I made the repair that afternoon.

Light would not work. The switch was broken.
Unplug the refrigerator, take a small flat head screwdriver and pry the switch out. Unplug the two wires on the switch. Plug the two wires into the new switch. Push the new switch into the opening until the tabs it's side click, lock into place. Plug in AC. Try the light by opening/closing the door. Simple. Fast service, 2 days!

Installed a new door switch, change a new light bulb and the light still does not come on. As far as installing the door switch, it was very easy. Need help in seeing what else I can do to get the light to come on.

Lights would not come on inside refrigerator when opening door
Pulled out fridge to get to plug, then unplugged it. Used a flat head screwdriver to carefully dislodge the light rocker switch - took some force. Note that the rocker switch prongs (the two metal parts that actually connect to the power wires) are on the side of the device, so the prongs prevent the switch from being pulled straight out of its socket. You have to pull it straight out slightly (less than half way) then pivot on the side where the prongs are. Wires are attached to the prongs, so be careful not to damage those wires when you pull the switch out. My (old) switch also had a soft foam strip glued to it, which made it more difficult to remove. The new switch did not have this foam strip attached. Once I got the switch out, I unplugged the wires from the old and plugged them into the new, then inserted the new switch where the old one was, being sure to get the correct orientation. It was much easier to get the new one in than it was to get the old one out. Then I plugged the fridge back in and, after cleaning up dust and lost items behind the fridge, pushed the fridge back in place. Lights work as they should now.
