Refrig would not shut off and had ice buildup in the freezer section
When I found frost in the freezer section near the door, I immediately suspected the door gasket. However, I realized the compressor was not shutting off and the temp in the freezer was getting to -26 degrees F. The fresh food side was normal (35-40). I found the defrost heater to be good and replaced the thermostat cutout switch attach ed to the evaporator coils. It took removing quite a bit of parts to get to the evap and was a little difficult trying to remount the part looking through a mirror. I went ahead and replaced the door gasket also and everything is back to normal. Thanks to the folks at this site for having the parts in stock and the super fast shipping!
