Refrigerator compressor ran continuously.
Unplug the refrigerator. Remove the control panel and wiring harness cover which are attached with (5) 1/4" hex head screws. Unplug the wiring harness and remove the entire assembly while drawing the temperature control probe out of the freezer. Remove dial, unplug the three leads from the old control and remove it, along with the probe (no tools required here). Plug the 3 leads into the new control, mount it and re-attach the dial. Carefully thread the probe back through the panel the same way the old probe was threaded. Remove the plastic sleeve from the old probe and put it on the new probe. Replace the control panel assembly as before with the hex head screws. A magnetic 1/4" driver would be helpful here. This whole job should take no more than 15 minutes so you don't have to worry about food spoiling while you do it. TIP: the portion of the probe on the new control which threads into the freezer section should be no longer than the plastic sleeve on the old one.
