Product Description

This kit includes the ice maker, power cord, bail arm, and fill cup. If your ice maker is not making or dispensing ice, or you notice a leak, you may need to replace the rear-mount ice maker assembly. This ice maker mounts to the back panel in the freezer section of the side-by-side refrigerator. If you are having an issue with the arm of this kit hitting the shelf, you will have to replace the shelf. You can find the shelf by searching FIX1152582. To complete this repair, you will need a 1/4-inch nut driver and a small flat blade screwdriver.

The ice maker wasn't producing ice.
Believe it or not, I did this in less than 5 minutes. First, clear off anything on the removable shelf covering the icemaker (in our case, four ice cube trays we had been using for a couple of months - what a first-world problem!) Remove the shelf by pulling straight out. Thurn the switch on the icemaker to "off" (toggle it to the left .) Loosen the two 1/4" hex headed bolts on the bottom of the icemaker unit. You don't have to remove them, just loosen them enough to lift the icemaker up. Once you have loosened the bolts and lifted the icemaker, undo the electrical connector behind it. Making sure the replacement unit is turned off, plug it into the connector, then put the unit back on the bolts and tighten. Get the bolts reasonably tight but don't go overboard - you don't want to strip anything! Finally, before you replace the shelf, press and hold the power button in the "on" position for at least 15 seconds. That will force the unit to go through the motions of dispensing ice, but will also then immediately fill the tray with water, which will get you the first batch of ice (which you may want to discard if there is any discoloration) in a couple of hours. Very easy!

Stopped Advancing Ice-Overflowing Water.
First Ice Maker had a broken bail arm hinge and water fill cup. Water fill cup was shipped attached to unit even though instructions described how to attach the fill cup to unit. Sent that unit back. Second unit shipped had a broken water fill cup also for the same reason. F*** it.....Removed the fill cup from my original unit and install ed. Still waiting for a refund on the first broken unit I sent back.

Ice maker still worked but leaking into freezer
Unplugged refrigerator. Removed two 1/4 inch hex heads, disconnected harness and installed new. Very easy! Was making ice in about 30 minutes.

Rear mount ice maker would not make ice as the switch controlling the water solenoid wasn't closing.
1.Loosened the two hex head screws holding the ice maker to the rear wall with the nut driver. 2.Lifted the ice maker straight up to to where it cleared the two screws. 3.Disconnected the plug. (this was the hardest part as there is very little room for two hands to pull the plug out). 4. Connect new plug. 5.Hang Ice maker on the two scre ws. 6. tighten the two screws. It took me longer to type this out than it did to change the Ice Maker.

The defroster to release the ice wasn't working
Turn off power and water. Loosened the 2 screws with a 1/4" nutdriver, unplugged ice maker then moved water tube out of way. installed just like it came out. Super easy! Last step make sure it looks level. then enjoy your ice!

Ice Maker quit making ice.
Found replacement ice maker on your web site, by model #. Ordered replacement by model # and replaced in a matter of minutes. Received order quickly and it fit perfectly. Started making ice immediately. 1. Loosened two 1/4 in retaining screws, and disconnected old ice maker electrical connector. 2. Connected electrical connector to rep lacement and placed replacement over the two retaining screws. 3. Tightened to retaining screws. 4. Set power switch on replacement to on.

Not making ice
Pulled out ice tray, loosened the two screws to ice maker lifted out and unplugged. Reversed the same process putting in new ice maker and was done. I have plenty of ice now.
