This is an authentic OEM replacement part. The defrost heater is essential to the operation of your refrigerator. This heater works in tandem with the compressor, when one is running the other is not. The defrost heater is in place to melt the first that builds up on the evaporator (cooling) coils during the cooling cycle. This defrost heater is 22? in length. If the frost is building up on your evaporator coils is building up there is likely an issue with the defrost heater or defrost timer. This defrost heater is sold individually. Before replacing this part make sure you have unplugged your appliance.
