1. Unplugged power
2. Removed top back panel, disconnected two wires to broiler element
3. Removed broiler element
4. Cleaned mess behind range
5. Waited for new part
6. Installed new broiler element
7. connected the two wires to the element

Broiler element would not heat up.
Followed the lead instructions on You Tube. The repair would have been much easier and faster if I had removed the oven door 1st.; was hard to reach the back screws. Unfortunately the broiler element still does not heat up (the rest of the oven works fine). So the Whirlpool service tech. is due out here next Wed. July 27th. (This was

The broiler element burnt into two pieces.
OF COURSE UNPLUG THE OVEN FROM POWER SOURCE AND/OR TURN OFF BREAKERS. The most difficult part of this job was removing and re-installing the oven door. Otherwise, there are 4 screws that hold in the element. (two on the bracket that attaches to the top of the oven and two that attach where the element connects on the rear of the oven. I

recommend taking the rear plate off the oven. It is about 10 screws but makes sliding the element wire connections together. Simple job for DIYers with basic skills.

Broiler stopped working
Our first problem was getting the screws loose due to the age of our range. Once the screws were out, there was a problem getting the connections loose. Due to no instructions with the part it was trial and error but we did learn and would recommend taking the back off first and disconnect the element from the back of the range rather th
