Lower baking element died
I pulled the range out from the wall far enough to access the plug. This was by far the most difficult part of the job. The screws holding the element to the back of the oven had square heads which might have been a serious problem for me if I hadn't happened to find a screwdriver with a socket exactly the right size on the end of it al ready on top of my toolbox . . . thank you Sunderland gnomes! After I had removed the little screws I very gently eased the element away from the back of the oven taking care not to lose the wires attached to it. As a precaution I had some duct tape ready and as I pulled each wire off the back of the old element I taped it securely to the back of the oven so the gremlin couldn't pull the wires back through the tiny little holes when I wasn't looking. Then I got the new element and attached the wires as securely as I could, they just sort of slip on, and screwed it back in place. I doubt if it took much more than 5 minutes. It took the rest of the day to scrub the floor under the range, the sides of the range, the sides of the cabinet and the fridge so I could push it back into place. So it is a big job really.

The baking element broke and flared out.
My husband and I followed the instructions left on your website from a previous person who had the same problem. We were thankful for the suggestion to clamp the wires after pulling the damaged baking element out. We lost one of the wires doing this and had to take the back off the stove. As a result, I suggest pulling the old baking e lement far enough to see the wires and find a way to clamp them before completely disconnecting the damaged element.

The baking element burned into
After unplugging from wall, all one needs is a #2 Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws inside the oven. These two screws (one on each side) holds the element in place. Secondly, with a 1/4" nut driver to remove the back of the stove. Remove by pulling the wire connectors from the heating element. You might need a pair of plie rs to pull the wire connectors off. Nothing could be easier to replacing this baking element. If you are old enough to read these instruction, you are old enough to do the job. It is just that simple.

Bake element burned out on Frigidaire electric range. All other parts working
This was an easy and simple, unplug old and plug in new type of repair. The only difficulty was for two retirees to get down on the floor into a position where we could unplug the old element at the back of the range oven and plug in the new one. As others have mentioned, it is very important that you pull out and secure the wired recept acle that the element plugs into so that it does not slip back into its hole at the back of the oven. After you remove the screws holding it in place on the back oven wall, pull it forward an inch or two and secure it with duct tape or hold it with piers until you have plugged in the new element. After plugging it in, push the wired receptacle back into the cavity and secure the new element with screws. Always very IMPORTANT: UNPLUG the range or shut off master power switch in breaker box before attempting this repair!
