Replace Infinite Switch
First make sure the power is off. Remove the knobs and the rubber gasket under the knobs (pry off with a flat head screwdriver). Lift the stovetop up and remove the four Phillips screws holding the aluminum bracket. Remove the two spring loaded brackets holding the black front piece to the aluminum bracket. Separate and remove the bla ck front piece and gasket from the aluminum bracket. Remove the two Philip head screws from the front of the defective switch. Remove the switch and very carefully note the marking on the back of the switch where the wires are connected. The markings on the new switch are very poorly marked. Check the adjoining switch to determine the location of the connections. They are labeled H1, H2, L1, L2 and P letter. Connect the wires and turn the power back on making certain that the wires from all switches do not get crossed. Put the range top down in the working position. Install the knob for the replaced switch; push it in and turn it to the on position to make sure it works properly. The first time my wires were not connected properly and I tripped the breaker. I checked the other switches, changed the connection, and flipped the breaker. All works fine now. Make sure that you use the bracket and screws from the new switch to attached the switch. The old screws are too short.
