It is an identical replacement for a missing or a faulty pre-filter which helps to add an extra layer of protection to ensure that the air that goes through the unit is free of dust and other harmful contaminants. Unfortunately, over time it will wear out and get clogged eventually requiring a replacement to ensure peak performance. This high-quality pre-filter is made of durable foam material and is sold individually, keep in mind the main filter is sold separately.
